Interesting read
Josie is a single British woman living in a tiny walk-up in Brooklyn. She misses her family, but her radio show is starting to go places. And sure, she could be a dress size smaller, but no one cares what you look like on the radio. The guy she’s had a crush on for months is finally going to break up with his girlfriend. She hopes. She’s zipping through traffic on her way to meet her friends for dinner at a SoHo restaurant. There’s a screech of brakes, Josie crashes her bike and her world goes black. Then something extraordinary happens. She wakes up in hospital. The handsome stranger by her side, holding her hand and telling her he loves her, is Rob. Her husband of two years. They live in a chic Manhattan penthouse. She works in real estate. And she’s thirty pounds slimmer than when she got on her bike that morning.Josie has no idea how she got here. This new life is everything she ever wanted. But there’s one very important thing missing . . .And now she has to decide: should she go back to her old single life in Brooklyn or stay with the love of her nearly perfect new life? What would you do?The book is written in 1st and 3rd person, with alternating parts. Its very easy to read, although I did notice a few spelling mistakes and missing words. But I don't think it effected my enjoyment of the book.I liked this book, I liked the idea of it and I enjoyed the way the author explored it. It was very interesting I thought to be able to explore an alternative life of yours and all it entails.

I loved this book
It helps that I find the Sliding Doors / alternative life concept fascinating and this is well written. I didn't always agree with any of the reactions or decisions any of the characters made but they were not predictable clichés and I was so involved and keen to turn the next (virtual) page I forgot to pack for my holiday. Doing it in a rush now. Would definitely recommend.

Good read
I wanted a Summer read and this is exactly what this book is. The concept is interesting about how your life can change at a crossroads. I liked it better than I thought I would. Good for a day by the beach.

An impressive debut novel
The Love of my other Life opens with Josie Cavendish on her way to meet friends to celebrate her birthday when she's knocked off her bike. When she wakes up in hospital shortly afterwards her whole world has changed as somehow she's managed to enter into her very own parrallel universe! Sitting next to her bedside is a gorgeous man who tells her that she's his wife and when he takes her home it's to a perfect luxury penthouse apartment and she discovers that she works in marketing for a deluxe real estate company. All of this is a far cry from the life she clearly recalls where she works at a radio station, sings in a choir, lives in a modest home and is on the brink of dating a guy she's had a big crush on. What on earth is going on? How can she fix things but more importantly - does she want to?I was drawn to read this book as it sounded like something a little different. . . and it certainly was! I'm a big fan of dual timeline novels but a parallel universe scenario was a new thing for me (despite having watched the film Sliding Doors several times over the years) and I absolutley loved it! For a debut novelist to tackle this I think was very brave but it has definitely paid off and the result is a thought-provoking and stunning read. I was fully invested in both versions of Josie all the way through and as a result I raced through the story in a few days, picking it up at every opportunity I had.The author has a writing style that really flowed and I found it easy to know which Josie I was with and the story was much more complex than the symopsis would lead you to believe. For me this was a wonderful book to lose myself in and it left me wondering what would be different in my own life had I made other choices. All in all I adored this impressive debut novel from C. J. Connolly and I honestly can't wait to read more from her.

A stunning debut novel-one which I wanted to race through & found myself immersed & enchanted
Love this cover! This is a new genre for Joffe and a debut author. Previously they have published crime/psychological fiction. All I can say is wow and go for it, this is one stunning read. I was quickly enveloped within the pages and found myself thinking I could be reading a psychological book- read on. This is a stunning debut novel.Josie has had an accident on her bicycle. Before the accident she was single, living in a walk up (this is New York) and working for a radio station talking about property. When she comes around in the hospital she finds life has somewhat changed. She is married (to Rob-a very successful property developer), lives in a luxury apartment and worst of all her brother David is dead- he was apparently killed in a helicopter crash two years beforehand not long after her wedding. There are some things that are familiar to Josie, but the rest she is understandably struggling with. Part one tells of Josie, the crash and her getting used to hew “new” life but remembering the simple life she had. Part two is the original Josie who remembers marrying Rob but loving that her brother is still alive more than anything. Who is the real Josie and is each one happy with their new life? (think multiverse)Wow! I was gripped and totally hooked. What a stunning plot and so well executed. I liked Josie and couldn't see how this was going to end as in both parts she is so confused as to which is her real life.(it's easy to follow as there are clues in each so the reader is able to easily follow). A book which I wanted to race through and found myself immersed and enchanted. A stunning 5* read.
