Susie Q's 100% Red Oak Wood Chips - Smoker Chips, Disc, 2 Pounds, 177 Cubic Inches

Works great for salmon, beef tri-tip, hamburgers and chicken. While serving in the military, ate in many restaurants on the CA Central Coast. This was the wood that they used. Brings back many pleasant memories for great food and friends. Adds an excellent flavor to the meat. It's somewhat pricey but worth the buy for an excellent meal.

Red oak is hard to come bye. The trees are protected even though they are not endangered. The wood is expensive. For Santa Maria Style BBQ red oak smoke is irreplaceable. The smell of red oak is far, far different than white oak. This bag of red oak scrap from Susie Q does the trick for a small BBQ for two. Thank you Susan Righetti :)

The real stuff. Nice quality but FAR too expensive for the amount, not to mention having to pay shipping on top of that. For the amount you get...about a gallon size zip lock bag, I think $10 plus shipping would fair. Good stuff but unfortunately I'll have to find a more reasonable, affordable source.😞

Excellent flavor for your Santa Maria Tri-Tip. The bag looks smaller than what you get. My guess is I get 15-20 cooks with one bag using a steel smoke box on a gas grill.

I loved using this wood chip in the smoker when I smoke tri tip!
