Pirate Goth Rice!
Alright I definitely mostly bought the black pearl rice because it’s black and also called Black Pearl. But actually, it’s also really delicious! Chewier and nuttier than regular rice, it cooks perfectly in the rice cooker in 30-35 mins (turing the water red/purple!) and doesn’t get stodgy. Plus it’s nutritionally awesome, lots of antioxidants! It's a fairly small bag for the price (~$5), but has so far lasted me decently well. It won’t become my standard rice but I’ll buy this again.

Delicious!
Since this is a short grain rice, I tried this an equal mix of brown and white short grain rice. Trying this for the first time, I decided to follow the advice I’ve seen about pre-soaking. Since my intent was to cook this mix in the microwave, I washed and rinsed the rice until the water ran clean, then soaked the rice for 3 hours, rinsed again, added the appropriate amount of water (3 c mixed rice, 4 1/2 c water) then microwaved at medium (power level 6) for 40 minutes. Perfect! The rice came out soft and chewy as short grain rice should be. This rice is not inexpensive but is worth the price as it is higher in fiber (more nutritious) than white rice.

Good black rice
This black rice smells so good! Adding a bit of it to white rice when cooking makes it super yummy.

Healthier rice - like the taste. And it is organic.
Expensive but really like this rice. Nutty tasting. I followed the directions on the package and turned out. The bag is so small (1lb) so don’t think I will buy it that often because it is expensive…. But I love that this is grown in the USA. Also this type of rice has a low glycemic index which is great for diabetes, and is high in antioxidants. Will buy again.

Mild tasting, good texture
Rice with the outer bran so it's not sticky, organic, mild tasting. Prefer this good nutrition rice.

Delicious, nutty, USA-grown black rice! As good or better than Lotus Foods forbidden rice
This is really good black rice. It is very nutty, rich, slightly chewy, and black as night. It is US grown, organic, and very high in anthocyanins (the health promoting component of black rice, blueberries, etc). The taste is just as good or better than Lotus Foods "Forbidden Rice" and this is not only a better price but grown in California as opposed to China. The actual grains of rice are slightly less black than Lotus Foods rice, which would indicate a slightly lower anthocyanin content, but it is not a big difference at all, so overall I find this product preferable. My usual water:rice ratio is a bit different than what the package states. I use a 2:1 ratio, so 2 cups of water per 1 cup dry black rice (and I use the "brown rice" setting on my rice cooker). I find that this produces a very nice texture and flavor. I've found that if you follow the bag instructions exactly, the rice is too firm and dry. 2:1 ratio is the way to go.

VERY Short Best Buy Date! :-(
I love that the rice is organic and that it is quite flavorful, I even like the purplish color. I would have given it five stars, however the "Best Buy" date when the rice was delivered was only 3 months. Not sure what a Best Buy date would be right after packaging at the company, I suspect the date is much longer! I feel duped! It also has a rather long cooking process, 35 minutes after the boil, then 10 minutes steaming. The rice is good though. If I buy this brand again, I think I will find in the store though to ensure Best Buy date and probably cheaper - it is quite expensive on Amazon!

muy caro, parecido a un arroz integral en consistencia (un poco duro aun cuando se dejo remojar toda la noche)
