Grandson Loves It - except...
This was a gift for our grandson and he's totally fascinated by it. The only reservation I have is the strength of the spring in the claw and, therefore, the 4 stars instead of 5.OK, the boy is just over two, but he loves this toy. Even though he can hold the claw with a proper grip, he can't squeeze the handle because the spring is so strong. Certainly, he'll develop enough strength to actuate the claw; but, in the meantime, he uses it mostly to push and prod things. He also gets great joy out of having an adult use the claw to grab his toys, clothes, arms, or legs (yes, gently). It's just as good as tickling. Even the adults are a bit surprised at the level of grip required to use this toy claw.Bottom line: Well made for the price. Good fun and something that even a smaller child can enjoy and grow into.

Fun toy but also useful in picking up toys around the house
My kids had these when they were little, so I got one for my grandson. In and of themselves, these are fun to play with, but the BEST thing is that children or adults can use the claw to pick up toys and put them away... A way to make it more entertaining for kids to clean up, OR a back-saver for Mom not having to bend over to pick up toys. I just walk around the house with a laundry basket, pick up toys with the claw and throw them in the basket. NOTE: There is a screw that holds the handle onto the stick, and this came out almost immediately upon first use. Dad put the screw back in though and all is well. I recommend checking the screws on this toy before using it, because a lost screw will render this toy useless.

Mom loves it, too!
We got this for our nephew on his birthday and he loved it! At first, however, I wasn't sure that anyone else in the family loved it. He's only five, and he had a hard time resisting the urge to grab his grandmother and little sister with it. <ahem> However, he quickly learned what should and should not be snatched up with the claw and we were forgiven for buying it for him. ;-)Funny thing is, though... We recently talked to his mom, who says that SHE uses it all the time to pick up toys and other small things that have fallen behind the washing machine, the couch, or into other tight places. Our nephew still loves it, but it's found a way to be useful for the grownups, too.

fun till it broke
So we bought this to replace a $1 robot claw toy that we got in japan that also broke. It was fun but lasted only a few months. Again, it might be that my kids are too rough, but it wont last forever.

No much of a claw
Okay, I guess this might be my fault because I am legally blind I cannot see pictures of products and I go off of the the name and descriptions of productions. A claw this is not unless you call a finger and a thumb a claw. I did give it to my great nephew as a gift so I am not sure how long it lasted but it did not seem like it was not very good quality.

Classic toy
Great toy. I had one as a kid and just got this for my niece who loves it. Be sure to check your local you store as these are pretty common and can be found cheaper locally sometimes. Fyi these toy has a great application that most people miss.... Use it to turn "toy cleanup time" into a game kids can enjoy. Also, parents look into the adult version, aka a grabber, as they are great for picking up things without having to bend over, eg. Laundry on the floor.

Meh
Got this for my son so he would not use mine, because i had spinal surgery and had my own ( adult version ) to help lift items off the floor. Its okay, very loud when you open and close it. And there is a metal bar right in the middle of the handle so you can only use it so many times at once before you fingers get raw. He doesn’t use it much because of the mentioned reason. It starts to hurt him.

Same as my childhood
I had one just like this when I was a child, its exactly the same as it was 20 years ago. The same quality you can expect from any cheaply made toy. Although the mechanism is stronger than you can expect.

Five Stars
Great little toy, but we use ours for getting our two sons cars and balls out from under sofa.
