Great, but NOT “For Kids”
This title is really misleading - it is not a kid’s book. GREAT for high school, but I bought this book for my 9YO. The text is very high-level, small print, dense pages - this is just not something the average child is going to be able to read and understand on their own. It is absolutely packed with great info, some nice graphics, some experiments and activities we could do together, but just way too much to be considered a kids’ book. I’m going to use “Who Was Galileo?” by Patricia Brennan Demuth. WAY better for an actual kid. :)This book is also a weirdly unwieldy book - printed in landscape on really slick paper, thin covers. It just flops all around when you’re trying to read it - kind of like Pope Urban VIII in his opinion of Galileo. It’s a sit at the table and read book, not a get comfy on the sofa and read book. I know, pro-level petty, but if you do want this book for yourself or an older child, it’s difficult to work with.I honestly just wanted to return mine but by the time I paid shipping it wasn’t worth it. I’ll just put the floppy thing on a shelf for when my kid is older and has man hands. 😆

Excellent Resource
I bought this for my 10 year old who is doing a report on Galileo for school. His report needs to include a written report and 5 other elements such as experiments, maps, timelines etc. This book was a great resource with many ideas for projects to do related to Galileo and his life. My only complaint would be the written text on his life was a bit complex for his reading and writing for his report, a great resource for teachers to teach about Galileo. And many awesome fun experiments and project ideas.

Good book, unfortunate title
It's a shame that it's called "for Kids" -- I got it for a 12 year old and he hardly did more than glance at it -- felt a bit insulted that I got him something "for kids". But when I took the book home and pulled out some of the experiments for us to do together, without his knowing they came from the "kid" book, he was fascinated.

Enjoyable Study for my Ten Year Old Son!
My homeschooled 5th grade son is using this for part of his science curriculum. He has no difficulty reading or understanding the text. A very enjoyable study!

Galileo for Kids (book)
This book contains a great amount of useful information about Galileo and his times, with interesting practical applications that kids can relate to, and info that is brought into perspective with nicely presented timelines. This book can be enjoyed by any age, and is certainly useful for studying science, astronomy, inventors, or any other general educational use, including biographies.

Balanced history with kids' activities to share
A delightful introduction to Galileo and his pivotal discoveries. This book not only puts Galileo's discoveries into historical context, it uses hands-on children's activities to excite young imaginations. Highly recommended for grandmothers looking to introduce fundamental scientific principles with relaxed, easy-to-follow suggestions.

Interesting book on terribly glossy paper.
Good book rather spoiled by gloss paper. I like paper to be matt it makes it more pleasant to make notes on. I like the feel of Matt paper. I would be reluctant to buy any more books in that range because of the unpleasant texture of the pages. I have no issue with the contents at all.
