The Battle for Amphibopolis (Nnewts) Paperback – June 27, 2017

It is a little violent so this would be good for a 10 year old (read book 2 first)

This completely thrilled my grandson so I felt it was a win. For free, no complaints on the condition of the book.

My 7yo emerging reader that loves graphic novels was obsessed with this book for a couple weeks. He read all 3, I read them to him, his dad them. Then, we wanted a 4th one so bad that we started writing and drawing his own. The story had great messages and some nice poetry.

My kids would have wore out all of these books in a few weeks from frequent reading, but they are very well made. The stories are fantastic! This is the culmination of the Nnewts trilogy and has an unexpected ending. Bravery and adventure are modeled and true heroism wins the day! Kids and grown ups with both have trouble putting these TenNapel books down.

We bought the last books in the series when our 8 year old fell in love with the first. It is a really interesting story with some deep and thoughtful elements. The artwork is also amazing!

I got these for my 6 year old son's birthday and he (and everyone else) loves them. He draws the characters from memory all the time. I enjoy the humor, danger, and the way some of the good guys die for others.

Nnewts has great color on every page. It's like buying little pieces of art with every page turn. Very engaging series for my kids: 9, 11 and 13 years old. Some of the elements are dark, so this might not be great for sensitive kids.

Doug TenNapel donne à la première série de sa carrière, "Nnewts" (cf. ' Escape From the Lizzarks (Nnewts #1) ' et ' The Rise of Herk, The (Nnewts #2) '), une suite et fin avec toute la dimension dramatique, tout le suspense et tout le... psychédélisme requis ! Sur ce dernier point, les magnifiques couleurs de la complice Katherine Garner désormais indispensable ne sont évidemment pas pour rien ! Mais TenNapel fait aussi évoluer son style graphique comme il le faut pour donner encore plus de force à son histoire.Il faut avoir lu les tomes précédents. C'est une histoire dans laquelle le règne d'Orion sur le monde (et notamment Amphibopolis) est contesté par un vilain serpent, dont la domination sur le monde fait que peu à peu les gentils tritons pacifiques et libres (les "Nnewts") se transforment en lizzarks possédés, au seul service du serpent. Herk, le jeune triton héros de la série, à l'avenir prédestiné, est lui même contaminé et il devient peu à peu "lizzark" (des reptiles à la peau écaillée et aux yeux exorbités) ! Il a des amis. Mais la menace est énorme. C'est un tsunami ! Comment Herk peut-il aller à l'encontre de ces Schtroumpfs noirs qui vont dominer les Schtroumpfs bleus (cf. ' Les Schtroumpfs noirs ' de Peyo) ou bien de ces Tristus qui vont dominer les Rigolus (création de Jean Cézard - dessin et scénario - en 1969 pour le journal Pif Gadget) ?Le talent narratif de TenNapel continue de faire des merveilles pour cette conclusion apocalyptique, au sens biblique du terme. Celles et ceux qui aiment les "sagas" que proposent la BD états-unienne moderne aimeront cette série qui, si elle emprunte ça et là (en mettant de côté les européens précités, les inspirations vont de 'Star Wars' à 'Mice Templar' en passant par 'HellBoy', entre autres), tient son lot de trouvailles et son ton unique de nature à en faire un grand récit en soi. ****1/2 Escape From the Lizzarks (Nnewts #1)The Rise of Herk, The (Nnewts #2)Les Schtroumpfs noirs
