Informative and Fun
This is a great bookm for people interested in the detail of Top Of The Pops. In addition to listing appearances, there are some sections of interest about the bands and their experiences. One of the best is about The Lotus Eaters, whose 1983 hit The Fist Picture Of You is discussed in depth and very funny detail!

Excellent Book
This book tells you everything you need to know about Top of the Pops from 1976-1986. A detailed listing of each show, with loads of information about the artists and chart position of each song. Lots of stories from the artists themselves that performed on the show along with almost 2000 screen shots of the artists performing. All in all a great book, and a must have for all Top of the Pops fans.

A comprehensive guide to the imperial TOTP era
For anyone of a certain age the years of 1976-86 were a golden era of music and indeed TOTP. I've been following the repeats shown on BBC Four and a number of those couldn't be aired due to legal issues regarding a few of the presenters. This handy book is basically a list of all the programmes in that timespan and it says if they are studio performance or video etc and there's a few notes on the band's or musicians. It's interspersed with the occasional interview with said band's or musicians about how they found TOTP although most of these get a bit repetitive (mentioning drinking in the BBC bar and the amount of rehearsals required etc).Realistically it's probably an essential purchase for TOTP trainspotters like me but not sure the average viewer may find it handy. One minus is that it would have been nice for the author to track down some of the production staff for interviews although I realise most of the team would be at least at retirement age by now.Overall though I enjoyed it and I really hope the author continues with the series.
