This product is actually a five star product but we gave it the lower rating because it did fit our deeper constructed door figuration - they don't make one for 2 X 6 construction. Wish they did!

Great product. The YouTube video was very helpful. It would have been a pain if I only had the instructions.Pros- Keeps the kids in and out. I say it's a sign of a good product when the kids are crying that they can't open the door by themselves anymore .- Straight forward installation. As long as you take your time, it's a smooth job.Cons- The back plates are too shallow. The main shaft has a metal collar that presses against the door. The back plates are not deep enough to be installed without bending around the collar and making the handle hard to turn. It still functions properly but the handle is a little hard to move.- The hex key provided with the kit is the wrong size. The handles and hook are all held in place with set screws. The hex key is too small and will not tighten anything. It actually feels like the set screws are stripped. I don't know what size was sent with the kit but I used a 5/64 wrench and it worked perfectly.I really want to give this a 5 start review. Even with the little annoyances with this kit, I would still recommend it to anyone needing an effective, inexpensive lock to protect their children. I like that you can install this anywhere you see fit on your door and how quick the installation was.

Within a month this item required tightening and it was installed correctly. It looks nice but does not function as expected for the price.

Does the trick of keeping our toddler from sneaking outside. Added bonus is that you can't lock yourself out when the lock is engaged unlike some of the spring loaded locks out there. The only issue we ran into during installation was that due to our particular model door and door frame combo, the supplied bolt didn't work. But a quick trip to the hardware store for 25¢ replacement did the trick just fine. We are enjoying the piece of mind knowing that if we turn our backs and the 2 year tries to ninja herself out of the house she is out of luck.

We ended up returning this, however, it would be good for those doors that you need access from BOTH sides of the door. Plan on drilling through your sliding glass door. The 5-star is also for that it looks to be very sturdy in construction, and easy to install-- however, we were looking for something that is installed on just one side of the door. I would hang onto this until we got another sliding glass door, but opted to return since I don't immediately need it, and it is $25

Great product, this was exactly what we needed. With a swimming pool in the backyard and small kids and pets you can never be too careful.Wanted something better than the plastic locks I've seen before, so this was perfect. Installation was a breeze, and it works just like it's supposed to. The wife loves it because not only does it work but it matches the door hardware so it looks good. Seems very well made and durable, I highly recommend it!

I got this for a wooden sliding glass door that my one year old is figuring out how to slide open. The door is very small and lightweight and when I got this, it seemed like overkill for the door so I did not install it. I did watch part of the installation video and it looks like it will take some time to install so since Winter is coming and I plan to replace the door in the future, I decided to just use a little eyehook to keep it closed instead. Took me 1 minute to install that and I was done. Much easier in my opinion and gets the job done although when I get a newer heavier door in the future, I will commit to installing this. This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

I purchased this sliding door lock because my toddler has recently figured out how to open and lose just about every door in our house. Although we already have a lock to keep the our sliding door closed, I purchased this in hopes of using it on the opposite side in order to keep the large glass door open when we are using the screen alone. Unfortunately the gap between the sliding door and wall were too far apart, my husband is going to attemp to make it work with some finagling. The lock is high quality and much better than the one we have in place currently to keep our door closed.
