POWERTEC 70294 2-1/2" Integrated Blast Gate Clog Resistant, Anti Gap Tapered ABS Plastic Fitting for Dust Collection Systems – 1 PK

I installed this gate seven. months ago and it has solved a problem with the gate clogging with wood dust particles. The prior gate was also a plastic material design, but the gate would build up wood dust in the bottom of the groove the gate closed on. Good product.

I purchased these to replace the old square type I had that kept clogging and preventing the gates from closing fully. These work great! No more suction loss from clogged, partially closed valves. These gates really boosted the efficiency of my dust collection system.

Fully open, don't leak. No flange to attach to but used hose clamps screwed to the wall. How well they don't build up dust is a long term question. I had one defective one, quickly replaced, as the stop tab was warped and did not stop the shutter from coming out.

This might be my favorite 2.5" gate for where I can't use or don't want a gate that connects to a wall.In certain places I want to have multiple gates without a lot of weight. For example, in the dust collection on the router table I have dust collection below the table, and in a fence, and in a movable hose. I want to be able to turn off the items I'm not using individually beyond the main dust gate for the whole table. Nearly any other gate, even plastic ones, will be awkward in the fence and hose. This gate is so light it it doesn't significantly pull on the hose and the flap doesn't get in the way when on the hose or fence.Any other gate that's even close in size is going to clog badly in comparison, while this gate has a design which is tough to clog. Any good 2.5" anti-clog gates are going to gave the flap come out both sides and take up a ton of space.I don't think it's for everything. I don't use them as primary gates, just as sub-gates attached to the main gate for a tool/area. My setup is more complicated, and if I had to I would trust them more than many other standard 2.5" gates.

I picked this because it is unusually compact, to use atop the dust collection chute on my table saw blade guard. It takes up little space and is easy to reach right there. Other models are somewhat larger, cheaper & flimsier, but they all work. This is very well constructed and were I building my system now, I'd use a lot more of these Powertec gates.

Just what I needed for my dust collection set up. Use these with 2 inch ferncos to attached 2 inch PVC on one end and 2 1/2" shop vac hose on the other.

Seems better than the standard blast gates. I do get a lot less leakage from closed gates. But the inner diameter of the ports is too small for the hoses and needed to be sanded down.

I can't wait to be done building my dust collection so that I never have to buy another garbage Powertec product. The inconsistency in their sizing is just astounding. Every other Powertec 2.5 inch blastgate accepts the 2.5 inch screw on hose coupler... except this one. Why? Why do that? Powertec products have easily been the most frustrating part of putting together my dust collection system. So much wasted time and money trying to find the right fittings. Done with Powertec.

These are self cleaning as the old blast gate eventfully you cannot fully shut them & you have to take everything apart to clean the small sides out

The slide channel easily gets plugged up with sawdust.

Way to much $ for something that isn't compatible with most standard vacuum size or plumbing couplers. Wish I had done more research before buying. But you can spend more $ on "powertec" couplers and clamps and hose to fit their own brand.... Do yourself a favour and go to the hardware store and figure something out...or check out other providers products... There this Valley where Lee lives, way more affordable. I ended up buying 1 1/2" abs pipe coupler, which slides inside the y fitting and other powertec products..... disappointed.
