This shoe is as only as good as what you make of it.
As someone who has primarily squatted/deadlifted barefoot or with a flat shoe I wanted to check out the other side - a shoe with some slight elevation. As it turns out, it just felt weird. The shoe fits great and is very comfortable but if you are used to deadlifting flat, then this is extremely jarring and won’t really help you out much. However if you’re looking for a little elevation with a nice wide toe box then this is definitely something to look into if you’d like to spend the money. Personally I’ll stick with my Vans/Chucks or just go barefoot.

Great for deadlifting
The gym I go to has square foot tiles down instead of deadlift platforms so if my foot is on a crack between those tiles, it is obviously unsafe. These shoes fixed that issue. I would suspect deadlift slippers are better overall but for my commercial gym, these are amazing!

Perfect weightlifting shoes without the heal rise.
I'm a week into trying these weightlifting shoes and I love them. I lifted for years in Converse, and when I would try transitioning to actual weightlifting shoes, the rise in the heal always threw off my squats and deadlifts, and the last thing I want to do during a workout is be changing shoes for different lifts, or walking around barefoot when I want to deadlift. These are sort of the best of both worlds, providing the stability, flat base, and snug fit from the strap over the arch that a weightlifting shoe offers, while the wide toe base gives your feet room to expand without any slipping and they are light as a feather, so any jumps during pull lifts feel very natural. Squats, deadlifts, floor pulls, all feel great wearing these, so much better than the old Converse sneakers, which really aren't as great for lifting, or for your feet in general. At least that's my experience. I also like how they look more like an athletic shoe than most other weightlifting shoes that tend to look too flashy or just goofy.By the way, I don't have wide feet, and didn't have any issues with them being to wide, even though they are described as being for wide feet. As for walking or running, these are not for that, though you could get away with them on elipticals, rowers, or other machines that don't require a whole lot of flex in your foot. I wouldn't, but mostly because I don't want to wear them out for lifting prematurely by using them for something they're not made for.

Falling apart after only 6 months of infrequent use.
Shoes seemed good upon arrival. Have used these shoes probably 2 times a week when I go to the gym for 6.5 months and they already are falling apart. Even if a shoe is worn daily for 6.5 months I expect ALLOT better quality and durability.

Excellent Strength Trainer
I'm an old pro strongman and very particular about my training/competition footwear. The Total has a zero rise, low compression, low stack height midsole paired with a directional traction outsole, a wide, foot shaped toebox, an unrestrictive ripstop upper and the pièce de résistance, a great metatarsal strap- something you don't see on trainers nowadays. This is not a traditional cross-trainer one would use as an all-in-one gym shoe however it's an excellent shoe if your focus is weight training, strongman, powerlifting etc; possibly even Crossfit. Bear in mind though that they do run 1/2 to 1 full size large. I normally wear a 14.5 (14-15) and these fit perfectly in a 13.5.

What MetCons used to be
Coming from Nike Metcons. Over time the Nike models have gotten narrower, raised the heel, focused only on looks, and forgotten their weightlifting origins. This is what the Metcons 1-3 used to be: a solid, flat, no frills shoe for real weightlifters.Order half a size smaller than you normally would.

Great shoe with wide and stable base
Solid shoe with a wide stable base for lifting with squats or deadlifts or even kettlebells. Comfortable and good for a flat stable non squishy shoe.
