For the newbie to character design, this book is a must! It introduces the idea of the storyboard while also walking you through the process of designing characters. It goes into the character line-up, a concept with which I was not familiar. And since I was in a graduate-level class and what they assumed were basic concepts were not taught, this book helped me in developing a final project...a character line-up.For the person who has dabbled in designing character for as long as he/she can remember, this helps in becoming more professional in the process! So, it's a great book for all who want to begin the learning process as well as those who are pretty good at it already! Great buy!

This is a required text book at most animation courses but I cant recommend it highly enough. It really covers everything in making animation from short to feature. I love her writing style. I am planning on working in the field and just learn something new every page - plus the pictures are wonderful as an animation how to book should be,

Awesome book. It is in textbook form, very user-friendly and full of information on polishing the characters, story-line, background, and presentation the best it can possibly be. Book was also in new condition and came quickly.
