EXCELLENT PRODUCT
I bought this product before, which was years ago and I still came to buy again because the product and the programming instructions work all the time unlike for many universal remote products from China.

Reliable
It is compatible with my air conditioner model. I bought it as a replacement for my previous remote, and this one is fully compatible with all functions.

DID I JUST GET A BAD ONE???
Bought this as a replacement remote for my AC. Came in record time. Opened the package and found a unit, in that dreaded "YOUR HANDS WILL GET CUT TO SHREADS!!" hard to open plastic packaging. Actually was easier to open than anticipated. BUT, then I put in two AA batters, waited 10 seconds, and then hit the ON switch. Nothing happened. Tried several times and FINALLY the LCD screen lit up and showed one number on top and a partial number on the bottom of the screen. This partial number was I think showing the room temp, but it did show up properly. I removed the batteries, reinserted, and hit the on and off switch several times. FINALLY, I did get a full number I could read on the bottom of the LCD screen. As a side note, MY CONFIDENCE in this unit was sinking fast. Next, read the so-called instructions. My CAT could write things clearer. On setting the unit for your AC, the instructions stated to press the numbers on the keypad corresponding with your AC. Well, there is NO keypad...at least not one that showed numbers. Granted there is a keypad of sorts but each key was tagged with an operation, not a number. I tried guessing at the numbers and THAT definitely didn't work. Shut the unit off, and read the confusing instructions again, but his this time very slowly as if English was my 3 rd language. OK. tried the whole process again. Pressed the rocker switch to turn the unit on and....VIOLA!!!...….nothing happened. Tried several times and...2nd VIOLA!!!!….the screen turned on AND I get to see the partial number again. The only two switches that seemed to work were changing the temp from C to F and the symbol for FAN. Very simply, I was either showing my ignorance of NOT being able to understand the instructions or...….I lacked the understanding of the instructions as written. I think it was ALL THREE!!! I tried several more iterations of putting in new batteries, using the on-off switch, tapping the screen, incanting some Voodoo I remembered, and pressing any combination of buttons. The one thing that DID work was putting the unit back in its plastic container, filling out the return form, and sealing the package for a RETURN. Overall: The unit is very nice looking, feels good in the hand, LCD screen is large enough so you won't go squinty eyes trying to read I, and the color was jazzy (I bought the gold tone). That said, the operation of the unit was a total bust: confusing instructions coupled with inaccurate descriptions EQUAL one frustrating experience. This unit had the potential of being something neat PLUS useful. Instead, it fell into the category of "why did I buy this..." Overall, very, very disappointing. And, I DO NOT RECOMMEND as a buy.

works well but...
No matter what I do, every time I hit a button on the remote it changes the display temp units from F to C on the AC unit itself... the display on the remote stays in F but the AC unit always changes to C and stays that way... but other than that, it works fine.

I was not happy with the remotes provided with the system
I have a Pioneer mini-split system with two 24,000 btu WS interior air handlers. I was not happy with the remotes provided with the system. Specifically the inability to set a start and stop time. Finally I spotted this remote with that capability and decided to give it a try. The remote searches codes and beeps to indicate a connection; I found code 0259 works great for my units. I was able to set off and on times with ease. One note: make sure the remote points at the unit. My unit is 8.5 feet off the floor so the remote must point upward rather than lay flat on the coffee table. I purchased a second remote for my other Pioneer WS air handler. I'm very pleased with the remote especially at a great price.

Works with Mitsubishi Mr. Slim Heat Pump
The KT-N828 Universal AC Remote Control, as other universal remotes, requires a code be set in order to function with specific manufacturers' air conditioners. The code for my Mitsubishi Mr. Slim was 0582, which I discovered in just a few minutes after consulting the manufacturer code list that accompanies the remote. The remote works well and all functions seem to correspond to those in the OE Mitsubishi remote with the the exception of the Mitsubishi "Econo Cool" button, which is not really a "show stopper." To be fair, this remote adds some features that are not present on my OE remote. The KT-N828 has a pleasant back-lit LCD display that is easy to read and shows set and ambient temperatures. It includes a "Sleep" function. With the A/C on, the Sleep function gradually raises the temperature a few degrees over two hours and shuts off the unit after 8 hours. With the heat on, the Sleep function reduces the heating and lowers the temperature over 2 hours and shuts off after 8 hours. The remote must be aimed in the general direction of the unit in order for the Sleep function to work.Things I like:Attractive, thin size, easy to hold and operate.Back lit display with large icons (display illuminates when any key is pressed - the OE Mitsubishi remote lacks this feature).Display shows set and ambient temperatures (the Mitsubishi remote does not show ambient temp). The five major function keys are large and easy to operate (Power, Cool, Heat, Temp+, and Temp-).Sliding cover hides the lesser used keys (Mode, Swing, Fan Speed, Timer, Setup, Reset, etc.).Sleep function for automated night time use.Includes batteries.Seems powerful, communicates well with my A/C unit.Inexpensive.Things that could be improved:Diagram with layout of remote has small print, requires a magnifying glass to read.Setup and operation instructions are a bit vague. The wall bracket is flimsy and doesn't grip the remote tightly. It looks like an afterthought. I don't plan to use it.The plastic seems a thin. I can see the silver finish getting scratched easily. The remote doesn't sit flat on a surface unless you slip the holder down over the top but then it doesn't function as a wall mount.
