Mary's Gift
The book grabs you and won't let go. Mary's spellbound story of her journey to help those in desperate need, under dire circumstances, was masterful. Her courage, dedication, and caring compassion will always be an inspiration. You don't have to travel to far shores to make a much needed difference in someone's life, such as Rodrigo's generous gift of a treasured plastic sword. In recently discovering Mary's book, it did not surprise me that the "apple didn't fall far from the tree." Bob was a great man & Mary, with flying colors, carried on his greatness of character & kindness. I was one of the lucky kids who hung out at Bob's Mobil Station and didn't realize just how much Bob impacted my own life until reading his life rules. For Mary to have thoughts of her brother, Artie, on the morning of the ambush, makes me believe without a doubt, that he was watching over her, bringing her safely though the many dangers she faced. For me, beyond the inspiration to always try to be a blessing to someone in need, I don't think I will ever eat another apple without thinking of Leyla.Thank you Mary for the enlightenment, in so many ways, that your outstanding book brings.

Fantastic book
Nurses, Nomads and Warlords is an amazing book. It is such an interesting journey inside a dangerous war zone. Author did an excellent job portraying the situation...such terrible living and working conditions, poverty, sickness, hunger and even death. What a courageous woman- and to share her incredible journey was a blessing for me and very enlightening! She truly has made a difference !

Great Read!
From someone who was there, I can attest to the accuracy and truth to the stories in this book. It was a remarkable time and this book is a work of art. Nurses, Nomads and Warlords captures the joy and heartbreak of work in Somalia. Well done!

COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!
I was on the edge of my seat from the first page. This was a real story about real people I could identify with and some who seemed a bit odd. This book gave me a first hand look at what it's like to volunteer in a war zone. I highly recommended it.
