Sweet story and beautiful illustrations.

Beautiful and touching story about a new place and the unknown. The illustrations are also incredible. Definitely a keeper.

This is a special story about a unicorn . I love this author / illustrator Briony May Smith. She brings to life all those magical things that fuel imaginations of all ages.

I got this book for my 5-year-old grandniece, who loves unicorns. This book has an "old fashioned" feel to it, in the best sense. The illustrations are not bright or cartoon-ish, but almost like paintings. The story is sweet. I was somewhat concerned that my niece would be upset that the little girl can't keep the baby unicorn, but she loves the story and understands that the unicorn needs to be wild and free, and with his unicorn family. Very pleased with this purchase!

Starts off cute but ending leaves much to be desired.

Sweet book

This is a charming tale of a girl who discovers a baby unicorn and has to care for it for a year until it returns to its family. It gently shows the importance of allowing wild animals to be free, rather than imprisoning them as a pet, however cute they are. The ending is melancholy; we're sad that the girl has to say goodbye to her unicorn, but glad for the unicorn's return to his family. Young children (3+) will love the book at a simple level (baby unicorns are cute and wouldn't we all like to have one); older children who are starting to understand life, death & loss (5+) will start to feel the melancholy ending; even older children (9+) who return to it will feel its pain more acutely and perhaps relate it to their own experience of loss in their lives.

What a beautiful book! The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is heart-warming and lovely. The artwork on each page is so wonderful you want to frame them all! Makes one want a little unicorn to care for. A perfect book for every little one’s collection (and for the young at heart).
