For value it deserves the five stars! I'd recommend this to anyone with limited patio space, as its compact, but does the job in terms of working as a wee heater, for sitting outdoors or as a BBQ, easily space for two - four persons worth of food.With the detachable pit, it's easy to empty the ashes away.Only downside is with no vents underneath, without firelighters, it can be difficult to get going, although the benefit of that is this causes a slow burn on logs though, so the fuel lasts longer. I've found 45 minutes is average for coals to heat up and coat over, to allow cooking.

Well constructed, simple to put together, good for the price.Be very careful to ensure it is put together correctly and on a good sturdy flat surface when in use.You would be daft not to.Also buy a roll of foil and a pack of those aluminum oven trays that you use to put a whole meat joint in whilst oven cooking.Any 'fuel' you choose goes in the tray and wrap the foil where you need on the Schallen.Water everything after use = no residual fires.Next morning, easily remove what's left in the tray and you have reasonably well protected everything else with the foil.The whole lot can wash up easily and your preparation before use diminished all normal heat damage you would expect. It will last much much longer.This Schallen is a nifty little thing, cheap and effective.I was very impressed, and thoroughly recommend.

Bought for a weekend camp, it worked perfectly. Put out good heat, used it to cook and was still in one piece at the end. Good value.

Easy to set up, just pit in wood and go, ideal for the smaller garden or patio. Looks rustic or even slightly goth but a very good wood burner

It's a cute design, but after just a couple of drier months in the garden it's rusted. Not used yet. Just covered it for the winter. But looks like il be buying a new one soon that doesn't rust
