My Reading Adventures: A Book Journal for Kids

I absolutely love this journal and all the features it has sparked a love of reading for my ten year old. We look forward to continuing to use it through the summer

This journal is great for the child who I loves to read and loves to remembers the characters and favorite things about the stories. There are plenty of pages with prompts to answer questions like these. There are also great selections for children grouped by genre to provide suggestions for books they might like to read. I gave these journals to a 7 and 9 year old who love to read and the 9 year old, especially, knew exactly what she wanted to write in hers right away. A nice “feel good” gift to help children continue to embrace the joys of reading.

After enjoying the adult version myself (My Reading Life), I purchased two copies of this kid's edition for my boys (8 and 12). It is even better than we anticipated! The boys are excited that they now have their own "Book Books" (book about books), and I had to almost tear them away to get them to eat pizza--which tells you something! The reading lists are amazing, and the journal pages are perfect for this age range. It's a great size, and my boys have really enjoyed both starting to write their books down and also exploring the extra features (the library cards and the quiz were the first two features to be tackled). Great, great purchase. Highly recommend for heavy readers but also for kids starting out to read, as the purchase is worth it just for the suggested book lists. There's something for every type of reader here! Plus it fits in a decent purse or a kid's bag for trips to the library and bookstore. So glad I got these!**I see that other readers got stickers with their books, which I think was a preorder special. Although my boys didn't get the stickers (because Mom was late to the game), they still love using this book! They've talked about using drawings to indicate genres. So many creative ways to use this.

This is a beautiful book! I got it for my 7-year-old, who has been reading for about a year and a half but only decided she LIKES reading about 9 months ago. There are lists of book suggestions (books about animals, books that take you on an adventure), log pages where your kid can record what they read and how they felt about it, and fun quotes. The color scheme is fun, clean, and appealing. It feels eminently useable for a young reader all the way up to someone in their mid-teens. I think it will inspire my child to read more, but also to really think about how she was affected by a book, and what she’s going to read next. Highly recommend for the reluctant or the enthusiastic young reader alike.

I got this for my reading-obsessed daughter and she loves it! She likes how there’s different ways of categorizing the books. So fun!

I bought this for my 10-year-old, book-loving niece, and she filled out half the journal on the first day, along with giving her mother a list of books from the journal recommendations to reserve at the library. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE create a "version 2", with perhaps different book recommendations, so that I can keep her as motivated and actively reading as she is!

When I told my 9 and 10 year old daughters I had pre-ordered them each a reading journal they gave the typical tween groan….when it arrived weeks later they were delighted. They love having such a fun way to track their books and look forward to filling I out each entry. One kid even got special fountain pins to use just with the reading journal.

My daughter (11) loves this book for getting book ideas and tracking what she reads. It's beautifully designed, fun and practical. Much more than just a tracker or a list! If your kid loves to read, or needs some inspiration for what books to choose pick up this book! I'll be purchasing another one for my other kids.
