Makes LMR400 so easy
Makes prepping an LMR400 cable for crimp connectors so easy, you can almost do it in your sleep. 1-2 minutes max per termination, and you know that each layer of the cable will be cut to the correct length and the correct depth. Something about using this tool is so satisfying, it almost makes the job enjoyable.

Where was this tool 45 years ago?
I own this LMR400 prep tool as well as another one for LMR600 cable. While they are designed by Times Micro for their cables, they work very well with other cable brands of similar specification. Bottom line, with these tools, I can prepare a coaxial cable and install a crimp-on connector in less than a minute and a half. On my last project, I installed 10 LMR600 and 8 LMR400 connectors in approximately an hour and tem minutes. Two of the LMR600 terminations were 80' up a tower. I have been in the radio business for 45 years and have never found a stripping/prep tool this efficient. Put the coax in one end and give the tool 5-6 turns, Put the coax in the other end and do the same. The result is a perfectly stripped center conductor and shield. I would add that they have a very simple ring that you can use to tie the tool to your climbing harness. It does not interfere with operation of the tool !!!

Top Quality, BUT for TMS Connectors ONLY!
The title for these strippers imply that they are for any connector - WRONG! While they do a fantastic job of stripping LMR400 easy, the stripped lengths are set for Times Microwave Connectors only. The stripped length is not even close to DXEngineering PL259 requirements. Don't waste your time and money, unless you are using TMS connectors, which BTW are almost 5 times the cost of DXE connectors. Commercial applications my require high quality TMS connectors, but most hams are very happy with the quality of DXE connectors, which these strippers will not work!
