Anchors Hair Company Courage Clay - Natural Vegan Hair Clay (2.3 Oz)

I genuinely love using this product. So much so that almost every morning for the past month, I’ve kept telling myself I need to leave a review. I have been on the search for a high quality, cruelty free hair clay that was on par in quality to more popular products. This one takes the cake. The hold and finish are wonderful. Strong, easy to use, doesn’t make a mess, easy to wash off hands, adds density to hair and a nice matte finish. I love the scent as well. I don’t find it as strong as others have suggested. You will smell it for the first hour or so of your day, which I consider a bonus, then it becomes unnoticeable.

As others have said the smell is a little different, my MIL said it smells like coconut but my coworker and I both thought it smells like cinnamon, it's not super pungent either, nobody could smell it unless they physically smelled my hair, but you can sure smell it. I think for $12/2oz jar there are better options price wise but the hold was great, not crunchy or put your hair into a big mass, its actually very smooth to run your hands through and the hold was an all day hold. Overall I recommend the product, it may cost a little more but it's still worth trying. The only thing I have 'wrong' with it is the smell, I personally dont mind it but I'm sure some people would.

I've used this product for two weeks now and here is my true feeling. My biggest complaint is the hold. I have rigid hair and this product doesn't hold really well. I've tried many ways. The only way to get the strongest hold for me is to damp my hair first, apply the product, let my hair air dry, then apply a small amount of the product again. I really wish this company could make a product with a stronger hold. The product is also very easy to come off with hot water. In terms of the smell, this product may have the best smell so far. It is not overpowering but it lasts super long, sometimes in a bad way. I can smell my hair when I walk in the wind, and I can still smell my hair after I wash my hair twice with shampoo. It is not a terrible smell but it sticks to my hair in a scary way.

I have Asian hair. It isn't as bad as some in terms of thickness and texture. I have wavier, lighter hair that many other Asians that I know. They actually comment that my hair doesn't look that bad when growing it out, especially on the sides which for Asian males is known to almost grow straight out rather than down on the sides. So I need stronger hold than the typically lighter hair of our Caucasian counterparts. When wax first came out, it was a godsend for me. Prior to that point, I was purchasing the strongest "ultra" hold gels that they sold. All would make your hair super shiny and then while the hold was strong, would take a while to rinse out in the shower. So I've tried the various Japanese Waxes, some Korean brands as well as European brands. I have tried them all. I have been using mostly Prejume lately which has a great texture and a nice light, fruity/floral scent, not unlike Japanese Candy, but it was causing my scalp to breakout. So I was looking around for an alternative and I decided to try this Courage Clay. Scent: Strong, but not unpleasant. I am really sensitive to smells and often will immediately return various hair, face and body products immediately because the scent bothers me. With the hand sanitizer madness due to Covid, I find myself having to always carry around my own because I cannot stand the smell of any brand except Purell and Germ-X. Anyway, after opening the can and putting some on my fingers, I wasn't necessarily turned off by the scent itself. It does remind me of a sweeter version of pipe tobacco in a good way. I actually prefer this to any musky, woodsy scent that all of the "men's" products seem to have these days. I put it on my hair and it smelled quite strong on my hair - as in the scent intensity was quite strong. You can really smell it on your hair. That degree of intensity does go down throughout the day, but it is 4pm right now and I can definitely smell it if I try. So if you are sensitive and/or do not love this scent, it may be a deal breaker. Now getting back to the quality of the wax itself. Very smooth and nice quality. Goes on your fingers and hair nicely. Hold is more of a medium hold for hair like mine. If I use two finger scoops, it will hold my hair reasonably up without it falling down but this is definitely not a super firm hold. It looks natural and you can move it around. Overall good stuff, and would get a higher mark if the scent were not so strong.

Anchors Courage Clay is a great clay!!! The breakdown of the product is very smooth. Surprisingly though with how smooth the product is during application there is a slight tug. This tug is very easy to get used to and that shouldn't scare you to be scared of trying the product. The product has a very high performance. It looks great in your hair. It has a great natural and matte look. Also, it holds all day which is a huge plus. It also works well with other products like pre-stylers. It is great for guy with thick hair who want to get good control. I would highly recommend this product and I will be a consistent costumer.

This stuff is great. It gives me hair a nice "dry styled" look, meaning its not greasy or oily. It makes your hair look dry but not dried out. Good for when you don't want the wet look for your hair...unless you apply it to wet hair. I have best results when I apply it to mostly dry hair after getting out of the shower. The smell is good. It seemed over powering at first but by the second day it was just fine. I wouldn't have much luck when my hair was closer to medium length. Shorter hair seems to get the best results. The hold is great all day long.

Good clay but not really worth the money
