One Is a Feast for Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale (Adventures of Mouse)

A perfect, fun Thanksgiving book for young kids
My three-year-old absolutely loves this story. It's about a mouse who is trying to sneak a Thanksgiving feast of his own from the leftovers sitting out on the table after Thanksgiving dinner is over. My kid loves the silliness of the story as the mouse keeps piling up more and more food to take with him, and I love that the book ends on a positive, grateful note even after the mouse's plan goes awry. We started calling mashed potatoes "mouse potatoes" in our house, and we may have started a new tradition because my kid decided we should leave a pea out after Thanksgiving dinner, so that any mouse that might be lurking around our house can have a Thanksgiving feast too.

Fun and entertaining story. Your kids will be entertained!
This is a fun little tale about Thanksgiving. It's a great and entertaining story anytime. But when you need a Thanksgiving tale around the holidays it's perfect. The artwork is so alive and engaging. There is great attention to detail by the illustrator. The author, Judy cox is quite a story teller. She cleverly teaches children an important lesson and all the while the kids are engrossed in a truly entertaining story. She uses words that kids understand and at the same time she introduces new words to children. My son was introduced to this story at the library. He loved it so much he begged me to find it and I purchased it on Amazon. Judy cox has other books with this mouse character: Cinco De Mouse-O, Haunted House, Haunted Mouse and Snow Day for Mouse. I hope the author will make more books about this cute little mouse.

We love this book!
Reading this book is a tradition in our household every Thanksgiving. We homeschool and we do a sequencing activity to go along with this book. I traced the mouse and drew a picture of each of the food items the mouse picked up. My kids color and cut out the mouse along with the food. They then recall and glue each item on top of then next like in the book. It also teaches us to be thankful and not to be greedy.

One of my favorites!
This books was recommended by our elementary school librarian. I love it! I’ve had a hard time finding Thanksgiving themed books that both the kids and I like. My preschoolers (4 year olds) get a kick out of it and even my 10 year old daughter still enjoys it. It’s a great read aloud storybook.

Really love this book. So much to love about it. Lots of lovely discussions with my five year old during the book and plenty of available literacy extensions.
