Got this for the important documents I keep in my go-bag. Lighter and more cost effective than a fireproof lockbox, and more easily concealable/less tempting to thieves. I do have concerns about water damage, as a home fire is inevitably followed by water from fire hoses or sprinkler systems, and the bag has a snap closure. I thought there would be a secondary water tight closure, but no. I would put the contents in ziplocks, but the plastic would melt under 451F, so that's risky even inside the envelope. Better than no protection, but not the most secure choice for anything but water safe valuables like jewelry and coins, which would do well especially with the flocked red lining.

This is very helpful to have, now I haven't tested if it is fireproof or not, but taking it for what it is, I have it in my office to put some important items in for safe keeping in hopes I will never need to find out if it is fire proof or not!

Don't call it waterproof in the title. It is very misleading. Maybe more like water resistant if splashed but it definitely isn't water proof. I bought it because it clearly stated fire proof and water proof. That is what I needed it for.
