They connect with Zippers and I use the tie down clips from Harbor freight across the bott on grounds, Wrks great!

Can I put vinyl decals on this with an iron? Or would it melt quickly?

Not sure. If you did try that, I would use a steam iron with a cotton t-shirt in between decal so not to scorch tent material.
