A Haunt for Jackals: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP-Survival Thriller (Seven Cows, Ugly and Gaunt)

Another winner from Mark Goodwin!!! Characters are real and believable- dealing with issues that many haven't even considered... Plot is fast paced and incredibly realistic... Mark creates an urgency for preparedness and as a BONUS includes a valuable 7 step plan of action... Huge fan of Mark as an author and recommend everything he has written... He is an author at the top of this genre... Story is thought provoking and will give you some "real life" advice for things to acquire and do before an emergency situation arises... Mark does a great job with dealing with products without over hyping or coming across as an advertisement... Mark also writes in a way that is appropriate for ANYONE to read- no gratuitous sex or language... He also constantly reminds the reader of the importance of eternal preparedness... GREAT series- can't wait for the next one!!! Get them ALL- NOW!!!

I downloaded book 3 the very day I received the email it was released. I finished the book in two days. Book three, like the first two books in this series will keep you coming back for more. I really appreciate that there is no foul language, nor the need for sex, use of alcohol and constant dropping of the "F" bomb. Thanks Mark, and keep these books coming!

This was a great 3rd installment of this series. As always, the writing is excellent, and the Kindle version I purchased was well edited, which isn't always the norm for Kindle versions. Mark Goodwin approaches his stories from a Christian perspective, which I appreciate. Of course, the theme of these books has some prophetic implications, including a vision that Danny, the main character, has at the beginning of each book. His books are never "preachy", but there is no hiding that some - but not all - of the characters have a Christian world view and faith. There is no foul language in these books, but there is some pretty graphic violence. That violence is not gratuitous, though. It is merely descriptive of what you would expect in a fire fight. One of the interesting things in this series is that some major characters do get killed off, which again, is what you would expect in the real world equivalents of events like this. That makes the series perhaps a little more realistic than some of the "prepper" novels and other somewhat "dystopian" novels you might read. All in all, Goodwin is one of my favorite authors in this genre. So, I love Goodwin's books, and this is a great series. As a final note, these novels are not exceptionally long. I read this one in 3 days. But, you are not paying $10 a pop for them. I paid 99 cents to read this one on Kindle. I would have been satisfied paying $3 to $5 for it, so I think it was a bargain.

I discovered Mark Goodwin at a time when I needed him most. My wife (and love of my wife) was recently put on in-home hospice care. Mark's work has kept my life in focus during this difficult time. When things get heavy, and I feel that I need to escape a bit, I pick up one of his books. I know it sounds crazy, but Mark's excellent writing style and they way he weaves the Truth into his stories, gives me Hope during my own struggles. I am so anxious to begin reading this one! All I can say is that you will NOT be disappointed in the least with anything Mark Goodwin puts on paper. Thank you Mark for giving me a 'place to escape'......your books are just what I need to get through this tough time.

After an attack on the farm, the obvious and ominous conclusion is that Schlusser is coming to destroy them. It is not safe to run, to find another place of refuge. Danny and JC must find a way to prevent what's coming. Mark Goodwin spins a good tale, continuing to build on the foundation of faith that will see them through. Danny and his dreams continue to provide a path to follow. As the story continues it keeps the reader's interest peaked. In short, a good read that provoked some late-night reading despite feeling like I really needed to put the book down. If you've read volumes one and two, you won't want to miss this read.

Another fantastic book from Mark Goodwin. As I read through this book, which I thought was the final book of the series I was close to the end and had so many unanswered questions. I was pleasantly surprised to learn at the end on my kindle edition that there would be an additional book in the series!Like all of Mark's books, the characters are well developed and complex. The story is very deep with a lot of moving parts in the story line. Unlike other survival/prepper books mark does not waste time or add content fill by describing an item or items like an HK91 in brutal detail, thousands of times over, instead he drops little nuggets and tips here and there which would require you to do some further research. Loved this series and look forward to part four to see how things end up for Danny, Alisa and everyone out at the farm!

Another excellent novel by Mark. Story development continues with new characters and changes along the way. I mentioned in my review of the first in the series and other books by Mark, that I thought the christian emphasis was a bit "strong".I have now changed my views and very much enjoy the references. As a non practicing christian, I now find it quite "refreshing" and it has opened my mind and heart again. Thank you Mark

When I put this book down, I say thank-you for every day that the lights are on. I am enjoying the story and the humourous breaks. I would like to get to know the characters a bit more, though. Like Nana, we don't get to know how she thinks and feels... otherwise, good story!
