Well-built fixture puts out a lot of light
UPDATE 2.17.15: After my initial single purchase, I ordered and installed 12 more of these fixtures, and all arrived in perfect condition, and all in perfect working order. The earlier packaging issue has been addressed, so I've upgraded my rating to 5 stars. These fixtures put out a lot of bright neutral light, perfect for our small offices. As a matter of fact, I think I may have to reduce the quantity I installed in each office because they are actually too bright compared to the dingy fluorescent fixtures we were living with. It's not that they are glaring or anything like that, it's just that our old fixtures were on their last legs, so three of these Lithonia fixtures put out a LOT more light than what we had. The light is very evenly dispersed from the fixture, overall a very well-built and well-designed product. Very happy with them. ************ Haven't installed these yet, but I have to echo the comments by others regarding the poor packaging by Lithonia. The metal cover for the wire raceway is shipped loose, and it moves around inside the fixture during shipping. My unit arrived with two damaged connectors where the wires attach to the LED strips. The connectors are metal clips encased in plastic. One connector's plastic was broken but the wire still connected. The other connector's plastic was completely broken off and the wire disconnected from its metal clip. Had to solder it back on. Lithonia REALLY needs to address this issue. Other than that, the build quality appears very good and sturdy. I've installed enough cheap fluorescent strip fixtures to know the difference. The metal is a heavier gauge than most, the fit and finish is excellent, and the diffuser lens is solid with nicely finished end caps. It is a much higher grade appearance than the typical unit you'd get at the "big box" stores. I lit it up and the color is 3500K, which is slightly on the warm side, but not overly yellow. Seems to put out light similar to a fluorescent fixture, and the LED strips do give the appearance of two fluorescent lamps.Overall appears to be a very good quality product. Just fix that shipping issue, Lithonia!

Good, but could be improved
Put up four of these in the workshop. Good light and some features were great, others need work. If you intend to supply power from the end of the fixture, the knock out is messy to remove- a couple of braces interfere with the access. The gound terminals are not situated in the ideal location if you are bring in the power through end of the fixture. The metal cover that holds wires away from the lens is flimsy and held in by weak metal tabs. This fixture is marketed as a high quality fixture. Some of the engineering is cheap and flimsy.

Works Very Well - Provides as Much Light as a 160 Watt Fluorescent Light
I believe that the company responded to some earlier reviews regarding the connections and packaging. The connections were robust; so when I tested it upon receipt, it worked fine. This 1 ft X 4 ft LED light replaces a 2 ft X 4 ft fluorescent light. Although I bought a sing LED single, I was prepared to buy another if the brightness wasn't sufficient. Happily, the single LED light gave off as much light (if not more) than the 2 ft X 4 ft fluorescent, which had four 40 Watt bulbs. The installation was straightforward, with the normal challenges of working above one's head. The wires passed through a punch-through hole in the middle of the light fixture. I chose to use wire nuts rather than use the supplied connector within the unit (I simply cut it off). The pass-through holes for the fastening screws were at the same location as in the fluorescent light, so I didn't need to drill new holes in the ceiling. Note: Typically, the fluorescent light that this is replacing is fastened to the ceiling with "butterfly" or "molly" bolts. So, when you unscrew the screws the "butterfly" will probably get lost within the ceiling. You can try to get it out, but you might mess up the hole & need to do extra spackling. That's your call. All I did was get two more "butterfly" bolts at the hardware store before I did the installation. (Take the screws with you so that you can get the right size.). All in all, this is a fine light & I would recommend it highly either for a new installation or retrofit.

Great Light--Lousy packaging.
I bought two of these lights to replace two four foot fluorescents in the kitchen. The overall dimensions were very similar to the old units, so the installation was easy. The light is very bright; actually brighter than the old two-tube fixture. And the color is very natural. Now that they are installed, I really like them. The only reason I do not give them a five star rating is because of the packaging the fixture is sent in (the manufacturer's packaging, not Amazon's). Like all similar fixtures, there is a metal wiring trough down the center that hides the internal wiring when installed. This trough is made to be removed during installation so you can make your electrical connections. As pointed out by several other reviewers, the trough is not secured by the manufacturer when they put it into their shipping box. As a result, the trough can come loose during shipping and bounce around inside. When this happens, the electrical connector that attaches to the internal LED printed circuit board can (and will) get knocked loose, and the light will not function. I had this happen on two of two units I received. I could have shipped them back, but that is a hassle. Fortunately, I was able to solder the connectors onto the printed circuit board and all was well. However, I am fairly experienced at such soldering, and if you do not possess the tools and skill to do this king of soldering, you should not attempt this repair yourself. If you end up shipping it back anyway, the manufacturer will claim that you damaged it. But other than that, it is a good light.
