What is the difference between the Cowan 240 and 230?

The difference is just the front panel. Otherwise they're essentially identical. They both have the same top control panel, for example, both have the same specs, and both use the same replacement filter. We purchased the 240 instead of the 230 because at the time it happened to be cheaper.

Is the carbon filter in the Airmega 240 washable? According to Winix, the carbon filters on their 5500-2 units are able to be rinsed out periodically

There is a pre filter, similar to a window screen that is washable but the carbon filter is not. This is to be replaced about once per year

can any lights or chiming noise be turned off? is this very effective on dust? tnx

List can be turned off. I don’t think the chime can be turned off but it’s not too loud and only occurs when the touch buttons are pressed. It certainly helps prevent dust but needs to be ran on one of the two highest settings to really make an impact. It will also only help with dust in the air near the machine and not anything that has already settled on the surface or fabrics.
