Five stars
This portable fish finder is amazing. I don't understand why there are so many complains in the review. It shows accurate fish location and water depth. You can switch the measurement by feet. Just press "Enter" button for 3-5 seconds until you can see the "M" changing to "FT".You can't use it in swimming pool or water bucket, because the transducer doesn't work in a very small space. The sonar technology is based on sound waves. The transducer send a sound wave signal and determines distance by measuring the time between the transmission of the sound wave when the sound wave is reflected off an object. If the water space is very small, the time is too short to measure the data you concerned. I highly recommend you to try it outside in the lake or somewhere has enough space.I use it on my kayak and it has been great. I like it so much because I can know where is a good fishing place. I caught a lot of fish and I am very pleased with this small item. However, the handheld is not waterproof. I reflected the issue to the customer service. The customer service is very prompt and helpful. I am going to buy a waterproof bag later and you can buy it in this store as well.

Great little fish finder with limitations.
I am very impressed with the function of the Lucky Portable fishfinder for the money. It mounted on my Hobie Outback and reads well and shows fish very accurate. Two things if you are planning to purchase this item it only reads in meters, for me no big deal just,a little calculating. And the bottom contour does not show , it has various icons that highlight, weeds on bottom rocks etc. I purchased the unit mainly for depth but was quit impressed with the readings of the fish.

It works!!
I was skeptical because it does not cost a lot of money. However, I took it out in a canoe and it pointed out several fish. We drop lines and it was right. We started catching fish. I took it out later on a bass boat to see how it stacked up against the built in fish finder. My friend was watching the finder on his and saying he didn't see much. Mine, however, was showing a good many fish. He said we'd trust mine. The pressure was on for the little finder to prove itself! Within minutes of dropping lines in, we were catching crappie. We caught 17 before we ran out of bait. I would recommend it to anyone. It does take a minute or two to calibrate, once it is in the water, but when you're going to be out all night, a minute or two is not a deal breaker.

A must buy!
Had my doubts but I figured I'd give it a try. This thing worked great, very accurate on depth. The surface bottom seemed accurate as well. Battery life was way better than other reviews, used it 5 hours on the lake, and 3 hours the next day on a different lake. Battery life is still good. It will let you know if fish are around, could be minnows or big fish, that's guess work... but for 40 dollars, it's well worth every penny!

See the fish!
40 bucks and it works, only drawback is battery life, it didn't last all day fishing. Bring extra batteries and you should be OK.

I'd recommend it and give it 5 stars
Used it to fish this past weekend from my kayak, helped me catch 6 fish where I thought I wouldn't get much action. I'd recommend it and give it 5 stars. Great product

Great value
I thought it was a great value for the money. I wasn’t sure if it would fine any fish, but at least I would know how deep the water was when trolling in our small river when salmon fishing. I was able to verify that the fish that appeared on the screen were real, because I could see the wakes from the salmon swimming by. One thing though, mine quit working and Ithink it was because we were in heavy rain once, so keep it dry. You would think it would be more waterproof as it’s used for fishing.

You get what you pay for.
While this seems ideal based on the sales images and the price there are a few issues with the execution of this product. The first is that the water depth & fish location image shown with the item on Amazon is not included in the user manual, nor is any similar guidance to that provided in the manual. Second, the setup button didn't function so you can't modify or turn on the volume, and even if the setup button did function, there's no guidance in the user manual to walk you through the options. We tried it out twice and while we fished over the same spot on both trips, we received different depth readings, which can relate to how low the sonar is in the water, but again that guidance is only available on the Amazon product listing not in any of the packaging or user manual. Regarding battery life, the 4 AAAs were shot after two 3 hour long fishing trips in our rubber raft. Minor point, I noticed that the handheld device doesn't actually have a spot for you to hook the lanyard to, to be able to wear around your neck or secure on something else.

Couldn't be happier
I'm very glad I made this purchase. I'm a pretty serious fisher, have spent tons of hours fishing on ships with built in fish finders. So now that I live in an area that only has small lakes and a few rivers, I haven't had the advantage of a fish finder. Until I heard about portable fish finders, and decided to give it a shot.In all honesty I really couldn't be more happy. For someone who can only fish a small lake from a canoe or small craft, this produce could not be better. You could attach it to your craft or just throw it out there with its float. Then when I'm done with it I love how it so compact that I can store it in the glove compartment of my truck. One of the best things about it, is that it's really simple to use.Money very well spent.

More than your money’s worth.
Very simple and easy to operate. Performs all the functions I need relatively well. I recommend extra care with the position of the transducer mount as it looks to be the most breakable part. Unit was smaller than I imagined but that is not a bad thing for a portable unit.Resulted in a fish on the first cast. After much use. Works great but can fog up on wet days. Battery life is excellent.

Excellent little fish finder!
Great value for a portable fish finder. Depth reading is very accurate, even at trolling speed. Some reviewers have complained about the unit not being waterproof, but I keep it in a ziploc bag just in case. Battery life is good, besides it only takes a few seconds to change them (4 AAA). For a basic fish/depth finder, this is a great deal.

Constand and consistent false positives.
Very simple and basic fish finder. The display is poor at best.Constant and consistent false positives when trolling forced me to just pack the fish finder up. It does not give you any idea what size of fish it sees. Dont waste your time with this thing. The price is right but I recommend buying the garmin striker 4 for a bit more.

Worth the money!!!!!
I am impressed with this little guy!!!! It works very well and it's accurate. Very easy to use. Battery life not bad at all. I didnt get good batteries though so that might be a game changer. After using it for several hours I have 1 line of battery left.
