Good sound quality.
It's better than a mini Xenyx mixer I have. I used both devices to record to my PC and compare. This is better.

It works but sound quality is so so
No power issue with condenser microphone as other claimed, even used with a 34mm one. The cable quality is high too. The problem of this cable is, the sound quality is really poor. With a $14 condenser, Scarlett solo can give you a near natural voice but this one is worse than most phone microphones. Another big problem is no adjustable level, you will hear a lot of saturation with this cable. Conclusion: You can use this cable to test your setups before recording, other than that, get a phantom and xlr to trrs adapter cable.

Petrfect? No.... Insanely good for the money? Yes
1st things 1st.........condensers work and sound great with this cable. If you do not need to hear yourself (direct monitoring) then this is probably the cheapest and most portable way to get started with recording audio...its that good.Now....will it work with a dynamic mic like the shure sm7b....shockingly...yes. It is useable, and thats shocking... That being said...its gonna be a little noisy, as in, preamp noise..a little windy sounding behind the audio, but it would be fine for tik tok videos and suchCan you use an in line preamp with it? Not really...its noisier with one than without.Condenser YESDynamic with Neodimyum Capsule YESGain Hungry Dynamic WILL WORK but theres some hiss in backround

Phantom power control does not seem to work properly
Got a Shure MV7, which the product says it supports. It only supports if the Phantom power turns off. There is a switch for it. But the light indicating the power on/off seems to go back on even if switched off. For my laptop, running Win11, the computer continuously does not recognize it until I uninstall the device driver and then reboot. Then next time I go in same thing. another reviewer (should have seen this before I bought) found the same thing for his mic, which does need the Phantom power on.

Doesn’t provide enough power for Maono PM-500
Can’t hear the mic with this cord since it doesn’t provide enough power to the microphone. Not good for compression mics

Great way to use large diaphragm condenser microphones on the computer
Setup was very easy in Windows:1) plug the cable into the microphone with the XLR (3 min) jack2) if you have a mic that requires 'phantom power', such as a condenser microphone (check your microphone documentation), turn the switch labeled "+48V" to on. If you are using a mic that doesn't require 'phantom power', leave the switch in the off position.3) plug the cable into a USB jack on the computer4) check the microphone setting in the Sound window is set to Audio AD Converter, so it's not using a built-in microphone, such as laptops use.5) open your recording or audio program you are going to use. If it is something like Audacity, make sure the microphone setting in the program is also set to Audio AD Converter.6) start recording or using your microphone - adjust the audio level of the microphone as needed. The cable length is good for most applications, from recording a podcast to recording music. I was using this with an Audio-Technica AT2050 microphone. I will also be using it with several other condenser microphones for recording audio and instrumental music. I cannot discern any noticeable hum or any noise from the recordings I have madeOverall, instead of having a separate power supply for 48 volt phantom power in order to use a condenser microphone with your laptop, this cable makes it quick and easy, and get good quality audio recordings and broadcasts.

Lots of digital noise, no ability to monitor, phantom power always on
The media could not be loaded. Check out my video for a direct comparison of this USB to XLR interface by Maono vs. a more traditional interface, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd generation. For the recordings I was using a Rode NT1 condenser microphone, with no EQ or post processing and just recording in OBS studio. With the Maono unit I get a ton of digital background hum. That little ferrite bead doesn't seem to do much! The Rode NT1 is known for being an extremely quiet microphone, and it is with the right interface. I changed nothing about my setup or environment between recordings and the Maono cord clearly introduced a ton of noise into my recording.Aside from this, the 48V phantom power appears to always on since when I turn of the switch, the microphone (which will not function without 48V power) remains on. The switch does nothing.Of course the "box based" digital interfaces also include additional features like additional line inputs, a monitoring jack, and the ability to use XLR or banana plugs. All in all I have to give it three stars because it does function to get the mic to work and get the sound into the computer. In theory I could clean up the digital hum it produces in post editing with a DAW or something but it shouldn't be there in the first place. At the end of the day its just not good enough for clean audio recording (in my opinion). If I were giving a friend advice it would be that they should save up a little more money and buy a better known traditional digital interface, even if they had to purchase a used unit, rather than buy this one.

Handy!
I keep this around the studio when I want to quickly audition some equipment or a mic into the PC directly, it's so simple, and it works for Dynamic or Condenser (Supplies Phantom!) all from a single USB connector. The converters are clean and sound good, and there doesn't seem to be any inherent noise in the unit which really makes me feel more confident when using it to direct connect higher end microphones, as the preamp is relatively strong and also clean sounding. A very handy unit to have in the bag of tricks for anyone in the studio!
