Excellent in Every Use!
Divine Organics, 2.9 lbs Thai Coconut Sugar, 1300gm We aren't truly Paleo at our house, but we're close. And one of the things we've struggled with is having the sweet taste we want in certain things -- like that morning cup of coffee -- without suffering the glycemic ups and downs of most natural sweeteners and without resorting to chemical artificial stuff. Stevia helps, but I haven't achieved real satisfaction in baking with it in any recipe yet. We use agave syrup in some things with good results, but the taste often disappoints. I could go on, but to make a very long story short, we've been searching for a better solution, and that's how I happened to be on Amazon looking at different sugars and sweeteners, and I stumbled upon Divine Organics Thai Coconut Sugar.First of all, I had no idea there was such a thing. Our local organic market doesn't have coconut sugar, nor does our supermarket. Knowing nothing, I did a lot of research before deciding to order it. I was familiar with Divine Organics, and trust their products, so when I was offered a chance to try this at a reduced price in return for an honest and unbiased product review, I leapt at the opportunity. It arrived on time, and I thought the packing was good -- it was wrapped against breakage and in a sturdy carton. The white snap-on lid has to be released by pulling off a strip of plastic; the strip was damaged and we ended up using pliers to get it off. Not a huge problem, but worth noting. Once the strip was off, I began to unsnap the lid, working my way around. It seemed very difficult to do and I ended up asking my husband to help. When we got it off, we realized the issue was that in shipping, the sugar had liquefied (it says right on the container that it is liquid above 97 degrees, and it's been over 100 here in Arizona for weeks now, and even hotter in the back of the UPS truck!). It must have been upside down when that happened, and the liquid sugar seeped into the 'snap' areas of the lid. Nothing had leaked on the outside, so this is a very well-crafted container! We used a butter knife to remove all the sugar around the inside edges of the lid and everything is working fine now. The lid snaps on with discernible 'pops' and I think it will keep the product fresh for quite some time.Despite the research, I was surprised by the color, which is a creamy beige reminiscent of maple sugar. The taste is sweet and pleasing; not as sweet as regular cane sugar, but more like cane sugar than anything else I've tried. In my morning coffee, this is perfect!!Yes, it is a paste, and that means it's not very good at dissolving in cold drinks, like iced tea with lunch. Again, since we live in Arizona and it's over 100 degrees outside, I've taken to putting my Thai Coconut Sugar into a covered sugar bowl out on the patio. It liquefies before lunch, and then we use it in our iced tea, coffee and lemonade with ease. The flavor is spectacular -- there is no other word for it!!Last night, I baked gluten-free chocolate chip cookies with Divine Organics Thai Coconut Sugar, and the recipe was better by far than when I had used xylitol as the sweetener.Whatever your reasons are, if you want an alternative to cane sugar, I encourage you to try Divine Organics Thai Coconut Sugar. It's really head-and-shoulders above any other choice!!!As I said, I received my Divine Organics Thai Coconut Sugar at a discount in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Amazing flavor
Tastes like candy, perfect sugar replacement for my oatmeal. Looking Forward to baking with it. I'll beach with a 2nd review for that.

Plastic bag
Love the Thai Coconut Blossom Sugar Paste. It's delicious. As others have stated, the container is difficult to open. Once you get inside, the contents are in a plastic bag! What a mess as you get the sugar all over yourself. Why wasn't this in a food grade container? Such a waste, of the sugar. Ms.B

I really like this sugar , but it’s so hard very hard to open it. And also , sometimes the sugar gets hard do make it’s difficult to serve. I rather get another brand that comes in a bag.

Updated Review!
So after my first, amazing, container of this product, I ordered two on Subscribe and Save. Both, much to my chagrin, were not as delicious, and designated non-returnable by Amazon. After I contacted them directly, they did reimburse me for at least 1, but I am still out about $20.Both of the aforementioned newer containers were extremely difficult to open- I actually drew blood attempting to remove the lid. This was, evidently, because the product seemed to be overheated and leaked into the seal. The product in both containers was rock-hard and needed to be chipped away with a spoon.Discouraged, I turned to another coconut sugar product offered here on Amazon by another seller in a smaller, 20 oz. size. This paste was the creamy, fudgy consistency I loved. This smaller product does seem a bit sweeter to me, however (and the nutrition facts state it has more calories), but I will stick to it for now.If you live in a warmer/hot climate and don't care so much about the consistency as another reviewer stated, you may want to give this product a try, but beware that you can't return it.**Original Review:**I was a bit leery about purchasing such a large quantity, but I'm very glad I did, as this paste is so good that I will go through it quickly. I love how it tastes in my morning coffee, and I even enjoy softening it and spreading on pancakes and waffles. It's delicious eaten right out of the container with a spoon and is reminiscent of a maple fudge. I don't think I can ever go back to cane sugar after trying this product.

Great for Thai cooking
Since returning from Thailand I have been looking for the sugar paste used in their recipes and have finally found it! The creamy texture and sweetness with no aftertaste is great in my Thai recipes and even coffee. It came securely packaged, thankfully, as the floor polish I ordered at the same time had leaked onto it. Thanks for a great product!

will buy again
I am almost done using them. They are not very sweet, which I like but if you are making a dessert that requires a sweet taste, don't use these sugars because even if you put in more than what the recipe calls for, you might not even taste the sweetness. I don't use it for cupcakes, cakes, etc. I love this product because it is a healthy alternative and you can barely taste the sweetness.
