Touch the Earth: Poems on The Way

Poetry for the soul
Drew is a modern prophet speaking the words of God through his own experience of living in a broken world. I was introduced to Drew and his poetry at a recent conference. His thoughts are profound in few and simple words. But what an impact on the hearer’s heart. I bought both the book and the audible version in order to see the words and hear them in his voice. My home has many books, but this one lives in my heart. It is a book to be read and heard and lived.

Comfort to your soul
As a non-poetry reader any books of poetry intimate me, however Drew Jackson’s Touch the Earth has been beautiful experience to read. I see the gospel of Luke woven through stories and questions that leave me thinking for quite some time. I’m starting to see why people love poetry so much! This is a gift.

An Open canon
"Touch the Earth," an ingenious alternative to the Gospel of Luke, is intriguing, invigorating, and impassioned. From the lens of a worship architect, this open canon is an “absolute” tool for consideration as we plan worship and consider the Gospel of Luke in any worshipping community. The divine imagination captured in the poetic words encourages us to intensely examine and expand ourselves within.

Brilliant!
In Touch the Earth Drew E. Jackson takes a complex, poignant and provocative instruction - from scripture and from some of the most respected spiritual guides - and reconstitutes the essense of the message into a simple, personal poem without losing an iota of poignancy or provocation. Brilliant!

A wonderful way to prayerfully engage with scripture
A poem says so much in such few words, and Jackson's poetry, accompanied by a thoughtful reading from passages in Luke, is no exception. You learn about the author through his words, but you'll also find yourself examine yourself too. I recommend both books to accompany your scripture reading in Luke.

A beautiful grounding of Scripture in personal experience
Touch the Earth is a beautiful continuation of where Jackson left us in God Speaks Through Wombs. My personal barrier with scripture is how it can feel isolated to a specific time, and I can't see how God's power from the scriptural story is present today or in my own life. Through Jackson's poetic interpretation of self and scripture, it's clear to see God's hands and beauty through Jackson's life and the present day. Cannot recommend this book as a morning meditation or a poetic escape enough.
