Reissue. The First Three Years is a compilation album by singer-songwriter Frank Turner, originally released in December 2008. The album compiles material that does not appear on Turner's first three studio albums, including tracks from early EPs, split singles, covers and unreleased material. The collection also includes a cover of "Smiling at Strangers on Trains" - Turner's former band, Million Dead's, first single. The title and cover artwork reference the Black Flag album The First Four Years, a similar compilation of early material.

Awesome!
It's an older cd so it had a bit of wear and tear, but not more than I expected, really. It was a great deal and I'm glad I bought it!

Frank Turner is a Rare Find
It's rare to find an artist who is lyrically gifted, musically talented and a decent human being with something to say. Frank Turner sings about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, without being a total douche. Since he isn't espousing the currently popular progressive agenda, he doesn't get the airplay he deserves in the States yet, but I think his talent and his message will win out.

If Billy Bragg Wasn't Dangerously Naive..
... he might sound like Frank Turner, who has a realistic view of the world, knows his history and yet maintains his optimism.

Stunning
I bought this album expecting to hear the rough early work (plus a few covers) of one of my favourite singer/song-writers. Instead I was shocked how accomplished the whole things sounds, from the powerful lyrics to the intensely emotive singing, underscored by some really evocative riffs on the acoustic guitar. Even the covers are unfailingly inspired interpretations and work brilliantly. If you're a fan of Frank Turner this album is a must have. This is, I think, a work of an unusual rawness and intensity. As an added bonus you get a shedload of songs for your money.I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver the Second Three Years now.

I was recommended Frank turner by someone because I liked coldplay
I was recommended Frank turner by someone because I liked coldplay. He's got so much energy but you can relate to almost any song he's written, defo worth a listen even if you've not heard of the guy! This is one of his earlier albums a mix of what he's done in the first 3 years.
