Everything arrived it fine shape. The unit comes in 3 pieces and is easy to assemble. There are also 3 fertilizer packets and one small pouch of seeds. (I recommend buying additional seeds and fertilizer for continued use.) Directions were sufficient, but more detail would be appreciated. I wasn't exactly sure if I should bury the seeds in the included soil or plant them like grass seed, and I wasn't sure if I should set the foam pads to the side or place them until the seeds germinate (I'm a beginner). Also I didn't see the note to fill with water only to the fill line since it was implied to pour water after placing the pods by opening the door to the top of the reservoir. Where is the fill line, on the inside? All in all, it seems like a good quality product. We'll see if I followed the slightly vague directions properly if I can get some plants growing!

This was a quick buy for me based on positive reviews... No idea how this could achieve better than a 3 star average. Little thought put into design or manufacturing. Must be jimmied to avoid constant alarm. Light bar is insufficient length to illuminate entire planting area (stunting plant growth). Poor and questionable components. Main screw doesn't even maintain tension, allowing light to fall into plants. For the price I believe I could have built a more educational and efficient unit, from healthier components, with my kids.

I bought this 2 years ago but it never made it out of the box until about 6 months ago because we moved and it was in storage. Worked great until yesterday when the water level alert started beeping and no matter what I do it won't stop. Is there a way to either replace the floating sensor or even disarm the beeping and just use the light?

The planter is not flimsy; it's well built, and looks good, even on my garden window seat. I need more detail on the instructions please. Do you plant the seeds under the pebbly material, or place on top? Do they go under each hole in the cover, or anywhere? Also--there are two ways to turn the light on, with the red light and without (regular light only). Which light is on when? Thank you.

I was really happy when I found this -- it has decent reviews and it actually looks sleek and modern, as opposed to many of the other hydroponics kits out there.Unfortunately, 4 days into owning it, it has started beeping and simply will not stop no matter what I try. Supposedly this is for the purpose of notifying you that it is low on water, but refilling the tank doesn't help in the slightest. It looks like one other reviewer has also had this experience. There is some serious quality control needed here.Notable that I also could not get the timer feature working. I press and held the lighting button and saw the flicker described, but as far as I could tell the light just stayed on indefinitely. Clearer documentation of the garden kit and its usage might be helpful; the only description I could find of the timing feature was on this product page (not even on the small pamphlet that came in the box).Now I have to figure out how to return it without making a mess. :(UPDATE: IRSE contacted me and offered me a replacement and 50% off. I accepted and so far, so good, although it's only been about a week. Will update if there are any other issues but I'm happy with their customer service.

The product works great, no issues or difficulties setting it up. Everything works on the product and my plants( bell peppers and banana peppers) have been growing wonderfully.

It works as described but has the worst timer I have ever seen in a modern product. Timer on/off creeps 20 minutes per day. I have to reset it every few days to follow the schedule I want. I can’t use an external timer because by default it goes to OFF when power is applied regardless of the mode it was in when power was removed. In my opinion this is a big flaw that ruins an otherwise OK product.

Seeds will sprout, but the plants that grow will be weak and spindly because the light is too weak for the plants to grow a strong base. To put it in perspective, Gary Palarchuk (however it's spelled) in one of his YouTube videos says the light should be 2 to 3 inches from the sprouting medium to grow strong plants. The light here is about 11 inches from the growing medium, hence the weak, spindly plants. The type of plastic used is not specified. I don't have confidence that the plastic is one I would want tell use for food plants.
