This book it's simply awesome! I am a coffee lover but I was a bit ignorant about my love... I feel better empowered to try new brews and actually know what to look for. The book is so informative yet simple and easy to read. It has a bit of nice humor without getting into sarcasm. It's a serious reading for the frolic coffee drinkers. Slurps up!!

A great read for anyone interested in specialty coffee!
What I appreciated most about this book was the bounty of tips that can turn an everyday cup of joe into a gourmet experience, no matter where you might be in the world. A friendly introduction to the world of specialty coffee that wasn't as intimidating as I first imagined it might be, this book should be on every coffee drinker's must-read list.

A simple but excellent guide into the world of specialty coffee
This books is simple and fantastic. It does two things extremely well - explain specialty coffee in a simple accessible way and give a brief guide and introduction to the coffee culture of Colombia. If you have an interest in either of those things I would highly recommend this book. If you have an interest in both like me (my wife is from Bogotá) then this is a must read.I can honestly say this will become an automatic recommendation to any friend who asks me - what’s the deal with specialty coffee?

Fast-track your coffee knowledge
The last few nights I've been kept up and I blame it on this caffeine-infused exploration of Colombian coffee.Permission to Slurp is the perfect place to start if you're curious about coffee in general, or if you are intimidated by all that fancy apparatus and the growing menu of options you find in coffee shops these days. All of that is covered in this book that really lifts the lid on the coffee pot.Does coffee really bloom? Is it a bean, a seed, a fruit, or a cherry? Is cupping a massage technique or how you taste coffee? I always thought 'specialty coffee' was simply 'fancy coffee' but it turns out that there's quite a bit more to it than that.Karen Attman writes like she's in a conversation with you, and you really do feel like you're sitting in a coffee shop with her pointing things out to you. The language is simple and friendly and educative.I now feel like I can walk into a coffee shop with more confidence. This book not only gives you permission to slurp but permission to experiment as well.
