Prime-Line SE 27580 2-1/2 in. Backset, Entrance Mortise Lockset, Wrought Solid Brass, Right Handed (Single Pack)

First it’s was $89 6/25 just before prime. Now it’s $99,$139…. But it works great. We had replaced our very old locks with new ones about 7 years ago. The new ones never were that great (Marks brand). Unlike the last once, these were extremely easy to put in and work smoothly after. Just remember the 2 screws in blue plate hold the locks secure. So basically they are the most importantly part. These screws are side by side, parallel to the circular locking mechanism. Loosen to remove the cylinder and tighten to secure the cylinder (lock). The cylinder does not have to be tight in place. The screws take care of that. Just line it up where the dead bolt will lock. We had to reverse ours with name upside down to get it to work. Must have purchased the wrong handed side. Blessing.

I searched high and low for this lock for over a month to used on a home that I am rehabbing. After buying the wrong lock several times, I found this one for an amazing price. Unfortunately, my partner also found the lock (at a much higher price) and purchased it the same day so I didn’t end in using it…. Compromise for having it on hand.

I have a 90 year old front door whose mortise lock no longer works. We couldn't enter from the front any more! But finding a replacement for it seemed almost impossible. I was quoted $1000 for a similar Baldwin lock from a specialty hardware outlet!! The Segal lock was an almost identical fit to the original, and modifying the door to accept its doorknobs was mostly straightforward. I had to switch it to a left handed lock, but the clear directions that accompanyed the lock made this a snap - very easy to do. I now have a beautifully-solid operating front door that's more secure than ever! And for an extremely low price!!! I would have been willing to pay triple what I paid for the quality of this lock. I strongly recommend this company and this lock if you should have the misfortune of replacing a 90 year old mortise lock like we had.

This lock set serves its purpose, but I'm only giving it 3 stars because there were pieces missing. It was missing one of the #8-32 x 1.5" Phillips Pan Head screws for the door knob rosette. And the holes for these screws were too wide (I'm not sure if that was intentional or not). It was missing the plastic strike dust box that goes in the door jamb. Also, one of the cylinder rosettes was damaged (looks like it was dropped and flattened on one side). For security reasons, i needed to get this installed and in use, so I didn't have the luxury of time to return, so I found another screw from an old door knob and reshaped the rosette as much as I could (and used that on the inside of the door). It's functional and secure, as designed.

Quality and durability. It's can be reversible Left hand/R hand.
