It is so painful to read this book that, after ten pages, I did not care about the plot or characters, or the story. Terrible punishment: first paying for the book and then having to struggle though it.

Brilliantly written. Characters were perfectly created and likable.I read every word instead of skimming the boring bits. I love legal drama books however none come close to this thrilling book. What a complex plot which unraveled beautifully at it's conclusion.More please.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I ordered Stacy Adams' book. Like most people I came to know about her through her well-publicized work in politics and I've also heard that she has written romance novels under a pseudonym. I have not checked those books out but the plot of this book drew me in and, trust me, Adams delivers a really well-crafted tale of a US Supreme Court law clerk who gets drawn into a tangled mess of plots and counter plots that involve a range of folks up to and including the US President.The pacing, plot development and character development are all good and it is a rollicking read from start to finish. There are a couple of very minor blemishes but for a first outing writing in this genre, Adams delivers. She may not want to quit her day job in politics - and I don't know where she finds the time to write, given how busy she is with everything else that she does - but in my view, she could easily write crime and political thrillers full-time quite successfully. More, please!

A riveting book - great plot, well-paced, believable characters. And covering a topic - gene therapy that has the potential to be weaponised - that is chilling and heart-stopping. So - a really good thriller.And given how much I admire what Stacey Abrams is fighting to achieve in her country - please Ms Abrams, continue to do both! I sincerely hope you write another novel, again in the area that you have such familiarity with and insights into.
