great little unit
This Terk HD Digital Tuner does just what it says it will do. And does so perfectly. What I like most is the tuner brings in more channels than I get from the antenna going directly into the TV. About 25% more. The EPG is limited but the recordings are 1080i. For the price, go for it. This is not a TV converter.

Worked for 30 days then stopped recording.
Took me a while to figure out how to use this. Kind of awkward to use.I finally figured this thing out and then it stopped working. I have it set up to record the news on ABC daily.Worked fine for about a month. Antenna signal is good but nothing has recorded for over a week.Very crude compared to the DVR I had with Direct TV. Lasted just long enough so I couldn't return it.

Does the basic convert/record job okay
I generally like this. It does the job. This seems to be an update of the RCA device I had earlier because the menus look and work almost the same. Buttons on remote are tiny, as others have mentioned, but al least the on/off button is now away from the play button so you don't turn it off accidently. The RCA version sometimes got lost and forgot to record something scheduled - it lost track of time, I think. This one has not shown that - yet. Also, this one shows more channel program info; for a particular channel it can show the next scheduled 10 or so shows, if the data is available. It's not a sophisticated device. There is no timed recording - once you start a manual recording, you have to also stop it manually. There's no commercial skip; you fast forward until you go too far, then back up and resume play. It takes a few seconds to start recording - so to not miss the opening scenes of a show, I start programmed recording at, for instance, 6:59 instead of 7:00.This device greatly distorts the colors when using the RCA cable connection. I had to adjust the color/brightness/contrast (some of them to the far end of their range) of the TV to see anything like realistic colors. So if you are using this on an analog TV to convert the signals - you can adjust your TV once and have just slightly wonky colors. On the analog TV, I use the RCA connections because that old TV does not have HDMI. HDMI connection cranks up the color enhancement some, but not disturbingly so. There is no coaxial connection for output to the TV; it's either HDMI or RCA.Make sure your memory device is fast enough. A slow data transfer rate capability will give a choppy/skippy recording. A Sandisk Cruzer Glide was too slow, for example. A PNY was okay. A one hour show broadcast at 720P takes up more than 4 GB . This records shows as .mts files. You might need a different program on a computer to watch the shows. The shows copied from the PNY to the Sandisk played okay from the Sandisk, though. I use 128 or 256 GB thumb drives. I don't know if the USB port can power a hard drive. So far the worst thing has been the color maladjustment on the analog signal. You'd pay a lot more to get a recorder with more or better features, so It's an okay deal.

Don't bother with Tablo.
This OTA DVR is just what the doctor ordered. It's fabulous. Works just as described, I couldn't be happier. Pro tip: do not use a USB STICK. Use an external hard drive. Very easy to set up. With a hard drive, you won't experience the problems described in other reviews. The price is right for this little unit, the tuner works well with a decent antenna.

Pretty good, not perfect, but pretty good
This is my second generation and it is better than the last one, but still has a way to go. This beats not having a way to record TV programming. The fast forward works quite well so you can skip commercials in short order. Over all good functionality, not as good as Dish and Directv but not anywhere near the cost either. I don't have Dish, Directv, or Cable so off the air is what I get. I am glad I have this little guy!

Record daily seqence limited
I wanted this to record some programs during the week, and it will do that but the limitations in program sequencing is limiting. One has a choice of daily, weekly, or (at once). One can not do A day of the week, or a Monday thru Friday, or a Saturday only, However I must point out that the picture is externally sharp and will record well within it's limitations. It records to a thumb drive or hard drive. The format is such that it must be played back on a similar unit. In other words, you can't plug the USB drive into a TV and expect it to play. My TV and Computer wouldn't recognize the format. Other than that, it it works great.

Clunky
Works as described the interface is kinda reminiscent of something older. To watch anything you record is not simple, deleting isn’t easy. The remote buttons don’t always seem to function, even changing the batteries out. I had it about 2 weeks before frustration for the better of me and I took it to goodwill. Purchased a new TIVO, which works very well.
