my favorite song of Vespertine, a lovely Single with lovely mixes

CD was better than expected

This is not really the greatest Bjork single out there - simply because there isn't anything new on it. The material itself isn't bad. "Cocoon" is already on Vespertine, "Amphibian" is on the Being John Malkovich soundtrack. Track two is the only thing "new", but it is based on a Vespertine song - a one minute music box version of Aurora. ONE MINUTE long, no vocals. I don't really consider it to be anything but an impressionistic interlude separating the two vocal tracks. It's sweet, but hardly memorable because it doesn't develop musically.The ONLY reason to get this single is if you don't have a copy of "Amphibian", which is fantastically mysterious and gentle, complete with harp, whistelling, and subtle drum programming. Equal in quality to any of her other songs. Any Bjork fan should have "Amphibian" in their collection.

First of all, the cover art shown and the tracklisting is for CD 1, and so I will review that one. It features the intimate electro-ballad "Cocoon" from "Vespertine." This isn't the most radio-friendly song, but well worth listening to. Of course, most won't, but then how many great songs go on ignored? The B-Sides are for the fans. The "Pagan Poetry" music box track is featured in Bjork's acclaimed world tour from last autumn and winter. And the remix of "Sun In My Mouth" is one of the best reworkings of a Bjork song ever, featuring programming by Ensemble. It maintains the original vocals intact, but everything else is a half-orchestral, half-electronic blur. This is true Headphones Techno.

"Cocoon" is a nice song that shows different points of Bjorkbut I do not think it is a good idea to release it as a singleinstead of "Aurora" or "Unison".Anyway, "Amphibian" is goodenough to make this cd valuable.
