A basic look at an outstanding person
I purchased this for a Christmas gift for my grandson. When I heard that there was an age appropriate biography of Lewis Hamilton, I knew I would have to get it for my grandson. As a Formula One driver, he took Mercedes to 6 drivers and 8 manufacturers championships in the time he was with that team. He holds virtually every record in F1 racing, he's tied with Michael Schumacher only for the number of driver's championships. It's his work to expand opportunities in F1 that make him more than just a great driver. He has been a staunch advocate for equal opportunities in F1, not only for drivers but for all the support personnel that make a team work. He is a frequent visitor to school STEM programs, encouraging the students to chase their dreams.I was pleased to be able to share his talents and inspiring story with my grandson.

F1 fan in the making
Great gift for children who are into F1 and cars in general. Lewis is an amazing athlete and an inspiration for the work he also does outside of the car.The illustrations are fun and the story keeps kids entertained. Also purchased the Senna version

Inspiring!
I bought this not only because I'm a huge Lewis fan but also because I wanted to share his story with younger kids and anyone who is interested in reading about his story. I have it displayed at my little library at my cafe! It's great that his story is shared in such a way. Inspiring so many all over the world and all age ranges. Thank you Lewis!

Average compared to others in the series, doesn’t look like Lewis
I’m writing this as someone who is a huge Lewis Hamilton fan and follows F1. I have also read quite a few of the little people, big dream books and have found some of them to be good and some to be bad. I would consider this one to be pretty average. My biggest complaint is that while the illustrators style is really cool, this looks nothing like Lewis other than his hair and skin tone. The book is very vague and lightly touches on some of Lewis’ accomplishments from childhood to become a 7 time F1 champ. It also talks about some of his struggles as a black person rising in the ranks of Motorsports as well as supporting the BLM movement. That’s one thing I do like is that Little People, Big Dreams isn’t afraid to lightly touch on sensitive topics even though the books are meant for kids. This book also came out during black history month which I’m sure wasn’t a coincidence so I think it’s cool that they chose Lewis as one of the people to honor through a book. I hope this book brings the sport of F1 and racing in general to a lot of kids that have never experienced it or heard about it before. (There’s a Netflix series if you’re an adult and want to get into it!)Basically I’m saying that the book is good but teeters on the edge of being too vague in my opinion and I understand that’s because it’s for kids so that’s probably why. Overall though I think this book is great, and would be especially great for young black kids to see that it is possible to overcome racial inequality and become great. It’s also important to everyone no matter what race you are that even if you have struggles growing up or even have struggles now you can fight those obstacles to become great and not listen to the “haters”.Lewis is a great idol to look up to and has done a lot not only in his career as an athlete in F1 but also for his philanthropy and his boldness of not being afraid to speak up even if his opinion is not the “norm”. I’m glad this book series chose him as one of the people to write about!
