LOVE
I LOVE Slate protein shakes. The macros can’t be beat. Iv tried the vanilla, chocolate and dark chocolate. They are all delicious but dark chocolate takes the cake for me. It taste good in its own but Iv been adding in so peppermint oil from Wholefoods and putting it in a cute glass. A million times better that protein powder!

Yummy!
Delish! Definitely a dark chocolate which is what I was hoping, and enjoy it! Decently filling at least for a protein shake. Tastes good with cold coffee and mixes perfectly. Good texture for a protein shake. I enjoy knowing that limited ingredients an included. A little on the pricey side but one of the better protein shakes I have had.

Not rich as chocolate milk and not thick.
I really wanted to like this healthy protein drink, especially since it looked so much like chocolate milk in the advertisements. The idea of enjoying a delicious chocolate milk-like beverage while getting a good dose of protein was very appealing to me. I was extremely excited to try it, but unfortunately, it somewhat disappointed me in a few aspects. Firstly, the drink’s texture and taste didn’t quite meet my expectations. While it wasn’t bad, it lacked the rich, thick taste that one would expect from something that looks like chocolate milk. The flavor was somewhat weak and didn’t have the indulgent, creamy consistency that I was hoping for. I found myself wishing it had a more robust chocolate taste to better mimic the experience of drinking actual chocolate milk. Additionally, I would advise potential buyers to take a close look at the nutrition label before making a purchase. While it’s marketed as a healthy protein drink, the nutritional content might not be as diet-friendly for everyone as it appears. Depending on your specific dietary needs and restrictions, you might find that it doesn’t fit as well into your diet as you’d hoped. For instance, it might contain more sugar or calories than you’d expect from a protein drink. Overall, it’s not a bad product. It has its merits, especially if you’re looking for a convenient way to boost your protein intake. However, it could be improved by having a richer, thicker style of taste that better aligns with the chocolate milk image it promotes. While it didn’t quite hit the mark for me, it might still be a good option for those who are less particular about the texture and taste, and more focused on the nutritional benefits.

Great taste
Good taste and texture. It does not separate.

Sludge, literally.
Nasty. Sludge at the bottom, every can I've opened so far. No matter the amount of shaking beforehand solves it. Wish I could return it. Although taste is subjective, not a big fan of it compared to other brands, either. Way too expensive for such a gross surprise at the bottom.

Great taste, few calories
So, I used to drink Premier Protein shakes after exercising. 30g protein, but they're milk-based, and I had to take a lactase pill with each shake. Then I find out that sucralose does a number on my gut. Lo and behold, these Shakes gave sucralose. Next, I tried Orgain vegan shakes. Not bad, though only 20 g of protein. No sucralose, but over 500 mg of sodium! When you have high blood pressure, that's way too much. Over the course if a year that would be an extra 100,000 mg of sodium. Happened to see Slate shakes in Costco, and, although it's a dairy product, it contains lactase enzyme. Costco only carried the Classic Chocolate, but even though I'd rather have vanilla, I gave it a try. Only 100 calories, which is important, because you don't burn as many calories working out as you think. It has never given me any problems with my gut. Then Costco stopped carrying it (if you're a Costco shopper, you know that feeling). Went online and discovered they have other flavors. Ah, my chance to get vanilla, but then I looked at the sodium content, and the French Vanilla had 260 mg, the Classic Chocolate 220mg, and the Dark Chocolate only 160mg. I was sold. Again, not my ideal flavor, but, in the end, I'm an equal opportunity sweets eater, so I've learned to enjoy it. If they could put less sodium in the French Vanila (hint hint), I'd be in heaven.

Beware - NOT 1g net carbs!
Unfortunately I discovered that the dark chocolate flavor is actually 13g net carbs, while the other flavors are net 2g (regular chocolate) and net 1g (vanilla), respectively. This is NOT what is advertised on the front of the can. So if you’re following a keto/low carb diet, take note of this difference. Looking at the ingredients, the dark and regular chocolate look to have basically the same compositions but the regular chocolate has “less than 2%” cocoa, etc. and that is probably the difference (refined cocoa power does have carbs). It tastes lovely and great for a quick high protein way to stave off hunger or quick breakfast, but I like the regular chocolate flavor just as much so that will be my go-to from now on.
