Battles of the English Civil War: A Solitaire Wargame (Mike Lambo Solitaire Book Games)

Mike does it again, another great gamebook
I approached this title with some trepidation, as the Medieval battles book was in my opinion only average. As soon as you read through this though those fears disappear.First up with every new book the graphics are improved, this is the case here, even down to the counters supplied. Plenty of content, you get 15 different scenarios.Best for last the challenging AI. In medieval battles my biggest gripe was static enemies, it played more as a puzzle with dice, not a wargame. Not here, a simple to follow set of choices powers the AI which acts logically for the majority of the time and does seem to able to frustrated "unbeatable" tactics. This is a great thing for the solo gamer.Question can this AI be retrofitted into the Medieval set, I will try it and see.In short, Mike's book are simply a must for solo gamers and maybe this is his best - so far?

Interesting in concept
Still in the process of reflecting on the mechanics..Some interesting AI concepts however feel that pike units rarely acted in combat without support of muskets which the AI needs to reflect
