Well built, poor footbed.
All in all these are stout boots. The leather is thick, they appear well built, and they have a Vibram outsole. I have already capped the toes and SnoSealed them. Those are the good. The insole is horrid. The ball of my foot aches after a half day of wearing these. My Danner boots are comfortable from the first hour till the 19th hour. I'll be buying new insoles to see of I can help these be more comfortable. If Chippewa adds a better insole, these would be the boots many workers would prefer.Edit: After about 3 weeks the insole actually got very comfortable. While I had intended on buying insoles, the hours I was working didn't leave time and now I don't need to. They are comfortable and have held up well so far.

I should probably also mention that we could probably have his first pair easily repaired, as their failure mode was that the ..
I purchased these for for my husband, who works in a heavy manufacturing environment in the Detroit area. Trust me when I tell you... he puts his footwear through it's paces! Typically he goes through a set of boots within 18 months - tops. He has worn high end work boots, to the cheaper big box brands, always with the same results - they meet a sorrowful end within 18 months. In fact, this is the second set of these particular Chippewa boots I have purchased for him. While I was a bit dismayed that the first pair only lasted about 2.5 - 3 years, and I was hopeful they would last around 5. But it was still longer than any of the other brands had made it - so (much to his chagrin) he will begin to break this second set in. I should probably also mention that we could probably have his first pair easily repaired, as their failure mode was that the interior lining gave way and is bunching up inside the boot, when he puts it on. The outside is still in excellent working order and appears to have many more miles they could be worn.So we made the plunge and invested in these Chippewa's once again, as they provide relatively good ankle and arch support, and can take some serious punishment. For those reasons, we would call these a recommend.

These boots are AWESOME!
These boots are AWESOME! I've owned a lot of work and/or combat boots over the last several decades and these are FAR superior to ALL of them! I have been wearing these every day at least 9 or 10 hours at a time for over 3 months now. I am almost constantly on my feet other than the times I'm squatting or crawling and no matter what I'm doing these boots are VERY comfortable. The inner sole took a little getting used to...when these boots were new it felt like the sole just ahead of the heal was digging into the bottoms of my feet at the outer edge of the arch but within a day or two the boots slightly adjusted and these boots are now as comfortable as my favorite pair of slippers. The build quality is pretty much perfect. The thick rubber soles feel solid and grip most surfaces well. The inner lining is slightly padded and well insulated but not too warm for most days. I feel these boots will probably last me for several years and when they do finally die I WILL be buying another pair! Bravo Chippewa!

Good boots
I bought these for my husband and I had purchased them in the past. He likes the boots but feels that the soul could be a little firmer than it is. Otherwise the boots are just as expected.

They have a very big arch!!!!!
They have a very big arch if your normal shoes are flat Is flat bottoms Or even if you wear timberlands they will hurt your feet for the first few days but your feet adjust to them fairly quick and they are heavy so if your look for a light boot These are not for you but if your looking for a strong work boot I highly recommend them

Great fitting and feeling boot at first.
I really like these new boots and will be using them for military service (with a few changes --blackening out the leather sole, brass eyelets and logo). These were a replacement order for a pair that I accidentally purchased to small. The replacement arrived only 4 days after the request for replacement was made, very quick turnaround time!Thank you for shipping to an FPO address, not everyone does, those that do deserve to be acknowledged.--------------------------LATER REVIEW--------------------------I used these boots for about 6 months and went back to my standard GI issue boots. I found that these boots are very heavy and after long days of being on my feet my feet, legs and back were achy and tired. When I switched back to my standard boots my feet, legs and back felt much better while still doing the same job. I'm not saying that they are bad boots, but maybe that they were not the right boots for the job I do.
