Paper Nano Sailing Ship Building Set

Very relaxing
Very challenging and small parts. But once assembled it looks great, this is not for the inpatient. Throughly look over the instructions, I made a few minor mistakes but overall it came out great. This my second nano paper model that I have built.

Tiny but cute
It's tiny. It's a gift so it's still in the tiny box. Hopefully when it's put together it will be better.

Meticulous well crafted PaperNano product with a caveat! But NOT for the average 10 year old.
I've built a couple of PaperNano products and have always been amazed by how well designed they are. That being said, this is classified as a 3/5 in terms of difficulty. I would disagree. A building that was 4/5 (Taj Mahal) in difficulty was much easier to build. I also built the Big Ben which is a 3/5. Working with this was much more demanding and less forgiving. If you aren't a patient and meticulous person, you're likely to get frustrated building this ship. Most 10 year olds I know would rather be playing Fortnite than building something that can be a bit demanding, but it's worth it.A few tips I found helpful.Follow the directions precisely and in order. It sounds obvious, but the directions can be a bit confusing.Be very careful when building the hull as it's easy to end up with a warped model if you're not precise.I would shape everything and dry fit it first before trying to glue things especially when curving parts around the hullThe rigging (Sails and ropes) are very easy to misalign. I used a minimum of glue at the bases of the masts initially to allow for a little give so that they would align with the angles of the rigging. Even after doing that, I had to adjust a 'rope' or two to keep everything straight. Only then did i put a bit more glue at the base to lock it in place. My end result is far from perfect, but looks good from a distance!. You can seen from the pictures that I made quite a few mistakes. Intentionally, I left the tops of the masts unclosed as I might want to add a flag or something and didn't like the squared off look. I also left off the nameplate that says "sailing ship" as well as the nano flag since I think both look dumb. I'd like to find a small American flag i'll stick on at some point.

Fun and challenging project
These things are amazing! To the person who gave it one star and complained it was too small...it’s called paper NANO sailing ship. It is suppose to be small and for its size, the detail is incredible. Directions are easy to follow. Possibly too hard for younger kids but still a great project for parents to help with!
