The old sash lift on my ancient window was rusting, flimsy, and ugly; it was made from some thin gray metal. I had repaired the fit of the bottom section of the window, which was half an inch too narrow and allowing rain to come into the wall, which was causing rot. Now that it fit nice and tight, there is more resistance to being opened so I decided a more durable lift was needed. This thing is beautiful and heavy; I love it! The holes didn't match the old holes from the nasty lift but that was no problem; I filled the old holes with epoxy putty, sanded them down to be perfectly smooth, and drilled new holes. Thanks for the great lift!

EXCELLENT, HEAVY DUTY QUALITY!!

Love - these feel solid and like they will last for years. The feel appropriate for our old house windows. Don't love - we didn't think ahead, and the up/down opening blinds we have catch on the sash lifts, so we have to pull the bottom or top edge of the blind out from the window to move it past the sash lifts. We marked 7" in on each side of the window and then marked with pencil and pre-drilled before putting the screws in. The screws provided are a flat-head, not Philips. We put them in with a power drill, but you have to be careful - if the drillbit slips it can mar the finish on the sash lift itself. If we decide we need them for more windows, I will definitely buy more of these.

Nice, solid handle however the finish is off. I ordered 2 handles and one is a very shiny finish and the other is a dull, brushed finish! Since they are both on the same window, it doesn't look good!
