My favorite coffee table book!! Use it so often!
I love this book. When I bought it, we were growing some of our food. With Amanda's clear, simple instructions, we have expanded what we grow to the point where we eat about 50% from our gardens. We haven't gotten all the way to being a food forest, but we have incorporated so many of the plants she has in the book. I love that she provides cultural context, growing instructions, recipes, photos, and cautions. The book is on the coffee table so we can share it with friends who visit. It's the #1 gardening groceries book that I recommend when friends ask. Beautifully done, thoroughly researched, and a terrific value! Just get a copy. It's truly a treasure.

Super Helpful
It's well organized and laid out to where I can quickly find what I'm looking for. Being that I'm in the beginning stages of plotting my food forest my favorite part is looking for what plants can grow in my zone in north Florida. Which is listed for every edible in the book. Keep in mind though the zones have recently been updated by the USDA. My area changed from zone 8b to 9a. It still freezes down to 17 degrees a few nights a year in January/February in my area. So I still go by zone 8 for what is easier to grow. If you're looking to grow a food forest I %100 recommend this book. Its beautiful and well made both the content & and material.

Invaluable resource
Transforming Florida Yards is not just about creating a food forest. It’s an introduction to a new way of thinking about food! It is accessible to the beginner, while also providing substantial detail for the seasoned gardener. I work with students at school gardens, so I appreciate her focus on food safety and nutrition, as well as her dedication to well-researched information. That it is Florida-specific is an added bonus! Overall, Amanda Pike’s guide offers detailed logistics, practical advice and in-depth plant profiles, making it an invaluable resource that surpasses the information found in YouTube videos.

Very informative
My husband bought me this book and I love it. Details about each plant, plant care, harvest, and even some recipes! If you garden in Florida or south Texas you should get this book!Focuses mostly on food forest or edible perennials. Format is similar to the farmers almanac! Great book to keep for reference after reading.

This book has helped me so much!
I moved from NY to FL where I was a third generation nursery owner. I understood the growing conditions in NY very well but when I arrived in South Florida everything I learned had turned upside down. The soil and climate is so different. This book has cut out the leg work and research needed to understand the soil and what plants grow well here as well as provide the most amount of nutrients. Dr. Pike also includes stories from those that live in condos or small land owners. This book is organized and researched so well, I highly recommend it for all novices as well as seasoned growers. I can’t wait to read more from this author!!! Five stars all the way!!

Great resource!
I have people coming to me all the time with plant questions. This book is the 1st place I send them. There are tons of gardening books out there lots of Permaculture, books woth lots of vegetables that nobody really knows about, because we don't find them in the grocery store. Amanda's book that has given us clear insight On how to use the things that grow in abundance in our area. Thank you so much, amanda for writing this book! You are inspiring!
