Works like it should
Works well.Pros:Price, for as well as it works, great price.Lightweight, so ideal for transporting.Built in cord, dual USB C and AFastQuietIf it is important to you, a nice looking piece of kitCarry bag is a nice touch.Cons:Feels a bit cheap, being all plastic. As with any electronic device dropping would be bad, but this feels like it could break a bit easily. But if permently on desk really not an issue.Lightweight, pushing disc carriage in can cause the drive to slide, a better set of feet would help (I added two rubber, non-slip ones, makes a big difference to me at least).Kinda short cord, and being attached could be an issue if damaged. With the disappearance of DVS's and CD's and rise of Streaming and online delivery, this drive should be perfect do 98% of folks needing access to discs, and at a terrific price.

Does the Job
A good value for the money. I don't have a cd player on my pc so this is working out just fine.

If it ever worked right, it would be fine
This thing has not been working right ever since I bought it. I put a blank disc in to burn and it is not spinning to get a song I purchased from iTunes. It has sporadically worked but it’s more frustration than anything. I wouldn’t mind if it took a couple of times, but it goes beyond 10 times to get it to do what its purpose is. Don’t buy it. Get a different brand. Now I have to spend more money to get another one! It’s not even a year old! The price is right but I guess it goes to show that it is cheaply made!

An oldie but goodie
I didn’t realize laptops don’t really come with cdroms anymore. This is compact and easy to use. The value for the product was appropriate. It comes in a nice little bag to store as well.

Short USB cable, do not get consistent connection with USB cable
The positive is that this drive went down to about $15. I bought to use in a laptop that had a dvd drive that no longer works and for a Patriot Box Office device that is over decade old but works well. It works well on my laptop but the connection is not quite 100% since it will not work if I plug in the USB cable connect all the way in. The connector has to be pull slightly away from 100% in for the laptop to recognize it. Usually, devices do not work unless the connection is plugged all the way in so this is contra and strange way to get a "good" connection in terms of the laptop recognizing a drive or any external device. I know the USB cable was short prior to purchasing the unit, but its stiffness even makes it more difficult to utilize. I may have to buy a USB cable extension and hope it does not reduce the power necessary for the dvd drive to operate. The same issue of the short cable and the ability to properly connect the cable to equipment applies when I try to use this external drive to my Patriot Box Office. I bought it to play video and music that is stored on a hard drive or USB stick. The Patriot Box Office also has an DVD connection option. It will play DVDs that I bought with no issues. It has no problems with MP3 and I can play shuffle the playback. It plays video recorded on +RW but not -RW, which is an issue with the Patriot and not the dvd player. It will give me a "no DVD" or "no loader" message when I am playing video, so I guess the USB port is not supplying enough consistent power like the USB port on my laptop. It has no problems with DVD-R or +R and can get the same menu screen to select what video to play as with a regular dvd player connected to my TV. I have a lot of DVDs recorded using a Magnavox DVR before AVI and MP4 became popular. AVI seem to be going obsolete now since some newer media players do not recognize that codec. An USB extension cable may not solve all my issues. I may have to get a powered USB extension to resolve the issues. I do not want the take the trouble and trouble the seller with returning a DVD player that does seem to have a good connection cable since it was only about $!5 and would cost a lot more to return and replace. I know the DVDs may not be the most used medium now but if vinyl is making a comeback who knows what will happen to DVDs since some people may have bought a lot of them when that was the best way to watch newer movies at home. Too bad Patriot stop making its product after such a short run since it was a lot better than other media players. I used Patriot cost a lot more to buy than a brand new one when it was still being manufacturing. A small Android box that does a lot ofdifferent things seem to better than any new dedicated media player that is current manufactured
