Sweex PA200 Security Lock With Key

The product as a whole, works fine and does what is required of it. I took it to a computer gaming convention (i37) and used it for my pc's monitor. It worked fine, I secured my screen to my table with the minimum of fuss and bother, it takes less than 30 seconds to set up.My only quibble with this product was the ungodly smell that it gives off, at the convention it wasn't a problem as all the other smells drowned it out, but once I got it home I noticed the stench, it smells like rotten horse dung, after 5 washes the smell has reduced but you can still find the lock in a darkened room, whilst blindfolded. I am now storing it out in my garage until I can stomach giving it a further couple of washes.

Just received this and everything looked good from the packaging but then you cut it open (you'll need scissors, it's one of those super-tough plastic sealed jobs) and the smell hits you. It's the kind of smell you would find in a paint shop or garage: petrol-esq / oily type of affair. However, I've given it a couple of wipes with a cloth and this has definitely improved the situation, I'm sure it will fad away over time as these things tend to do.The lock itself is neat and compact, looking exactly like the photo supplied here on Amazon. It doesn't feel like it would fare too well against a determined thief but then I wasn't expecting it to given it's designed more as a deterrent against the casual thief for example when you pop off to get a book in the library and leave your laptop on a reading desk.Overall I'd say it's good value for the cost and quality.
