Honeywell 40011-01 Damp-Rated Universal Remote Control for Ceiling Fans, Cream

This works great on our outdoor fan. We keep it on the coffee table on our covered patiol. UPDATE. Less than a year and it does not work anymore. But it was the battery so I changed it, but that did not take care of the problem. It has a one year warranty so I will update you when I find out what they do about this problem.

Added this remote control to a Honeywell Palm Island 52 inch ceiling fan with a Westinghouse Three LED Cluster ceiling fan light kit...it works great, and was super simple to install. the biggest challenge wound up being getting all of the wires (light, fan, and remote receiver box & wires) worked into the limited space inside the housing.

We installed this "damp-rated" remote to control the ceiling fan and lights in an open-sided gazebo. The first specimen worked for 5 minutes, and then died before the installer even closed up the box. The replacement is working OK now for a couple of weeks, I'll report back.We used this in the traditional way to power the fan, but diverted the blue-and-white wires to a romex cable and across to the edge of the roof, where we used it to power a set of waterproof LED string lights ( http://a.co/bXr2f2f ). Works just fine with the incandescent/CFL switch set to CFL. (Why no LED setting, Honeywell???)

I really liked the design of these remotes, so I bought (Five) of these remotes to replace my original fan remotes. A year and a half later everyone of the fan modules have failed and the remotes stopped working... these remotes might be pretty, but their complete GARBAGE!!!!!Don't waste your money....

Bought this to replace a #40012 remote that got wet and stopped working. Synced up to the existing controller already installed in the fan just fine by flipping the power off then on and holding the "learn" button inside the battery case. Unfortunate that you can't buy only the remote, but it's cheap enough that it doesn't matter so much.Compared to the #40012, this remote is a little skinnier and not magnetic. The wall holder is more of a cradle. The buttons are rubbery instead of hard plastic and take a little more force to press. The battery is a little 12v garage door opener type battery instead of 4xAAAs, and there is no "nightlight" in the light switch button, so maybe this battery will last longer. No real negatives here for me.

This isn't just a remote replacement - you have to replace the receiver too. The new remote won't "learn" the current receiver in place

I love having a remote. I really like the luxury of turning the fan on from anywhere in the room. Works great! Very simple - great for an old lady!

Need it for a replacement for the remote I ruined.. Glad to get it. This is a great system!! You'll enjoy the convenience of turning the ceiling fan up or down. Unless you have kids to do it for you. Trust the kids will thank you for getting this system. A+ from me.
