Very nice replica
My family had the real one just like this bug bigger when I was a child. I remember I could not lift it. They were so very heavy. I guess to not be stolen easily while a shop keeper was busy. I fell in love with this replica as soon as I saw it. I put it out with my Christmas decorations. Was just an adorable addition to my time's gone by decor' pieces. Great minds created this from memories like mine, thank you.

Cute tin cash register
Oh, well. My home is a sort of vintage, steampunk flavor with rich colors and some cool old things that add flavor to the décor. I am a semi-collector of interesting things. My Grandfather had a real huge old cash register similar to this in his tiny store and this sort of gave me the feels for this item so I decided to try it. It’s larger than I thought. Yes, it says 11 inches, and that is pretty accurate so my fault…it just didn’t fit where I thought I could put it. Part of the not fitting was more visual than actual physically fitting. It just doesn’t work for my space the way I thought it would. That isn’t a problem with the item except that mine did arrive broken. The box got smashed in shipping…there isn’t a lot of padding for this in the box, ok, none, and two of the bottom rails broke off. I’m showing that in the photos. If I loved this item I would ask for a replacement, but instead I glued them on with E6000 and hot glue tack “welds”. It works and is a solid repair. The other thing I did was put hot glue bumpers on the base pieces because they are plain metal and I was afraid they would scratch furniture. There are no rubber or other bumpers on it to prevent rather rough miter cuts from the rods from harming good furniture. So, it’s back in one piece, but not pristine. The design is cute, and the details are interesting. It does remind me of Grampa’s store. The metal mentioned isn’t heavy. It’s a painted tin with paper decals, and the painting is noticeably “loose” instead of carefully done. Thin wood is used to support the sides of the base and piece under the register must be thin wood to hold up if coins are put inside. The drawer is made of tin. The drawer doesn’t operate smoothly and that is due to the design of it being just a tin box slid in with a handle on the cover. Mine is a little of a tight fit so it has to be pulled enough to move the whole thing. Coin weight inside would help eventually. Frankly I am marking this down because I feel it is overpriced and the description makes it look very luxurious, but it’s not impressive in person. I don’t dislike it really, I’m just a bit disappointed that it just doesn’t work for me and it’s not nice enough to make it work. It might be really cool for a young person’s room…if that young person had a bent for history and cool old stuff. It will hold a lot as a bank and would be cool as a key holder and a place to drop spare change for someone who works outside the home. I am marking it to 4 stars because I just do not feel the construction lives up to the high end description of it. Also the photos show it on shiny nice tables which I am willing to bet would be scratched when the drawer moves the item on the table. Even if it were not broken when it arrived I think it’s not as well done and high quality as I would expect an item at this price point to be. I think there are better banks out there for this money, but if you really like old cash registers and have more open shelf space than I do give it a go…just put some hot glue or bumpers on the bottom so it won’t ruin your table ok?

Love it in my office
My home office I like to decorate with antique and rustic decor. This old fashioned cash register is a great addition. It's not cheaply built at all and other than a few bent pieces due to shipping, it looks great.

Unique bank
We came across this bank and just knew our son would adore it. It arrived quickly and is an awesomly detailed replica of an older cash register. It's heavy weight and well made.

Overpriced, cute, junk.
Because I enjoy gadgets, steampunk-type gadgets in particular, and because my home is decorated in a rather global bohemian style, this seemed to fit in my wheelhouse. I read the reviews and ignored the one where it showed pictures of this broken and mentioned the lack of cushioning on the base. I should have taken that to heart, because that reviewer is correct. Not only was mine broken, but in the exactly same spot. I wanted to like this, I really did, but when I take something out of a box and it immediately needs repair, that angers me. I also don’t like the fact that after I repair it, I have to add some feet so that it won’t scratch wherever it happens to be sitting. If this were a third of the price, perhaps I could recommend it as a bit of whimsical fun. Sadly, broken items are never fun, and that negates the whimsy for me. I don’t recommend.
