These 4 benches were in sad shape and rewarded anyone sitting on them with splinters and wood dust on their clothing. After light sanding to a smooth surface, I applied 6 coats of the Halcyon polyurethane with a synthetic brush to each bench. It did take a few days of intermittent work, but SO WORTH IT. We would have had to throw these benches out and they are now stunning comfort to our yard. The only reason to sand prior to your last 1 or 2 coats is to get rid of drip marks; no problem with additional coat adherence. So 2 of the benches, I did not sand at all between coats. This product is easy to work with and easy cleanup. Highly recommend!
