Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie [Blu-ray]

A Masterpiece, worthy of preservation
I have, no joke, watched this movie at least a dozen times. It's a comfort film for me to have on in the background while I work at this point. My friends and I quote it daily. If you're a Tim & Eric fan, you need to have this in your collection to pass down to your family when you're gone.

Should have been Tim and Eric Season 6
What can I say about Tim and Eric? It's easy to say that there aren't many words to describe them, and I mean that in a good way. I've been an absolute Tim and Eric fan for the past few years since the Awesome Show debuted. I own all 5 seasons on DVD and I even went to their Awesome Tour in 2010. Their show is the ultimate bizarre comedy and their formula of telling a short-short hilarious situation mixed with random gags works perfectly in each episode's 11 minute run-time. Now we come to Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. When I first heard about this, I was super excited. I thought, Wow! Not only would we get to see the over the top duo take things to the next level in a feature film with a higher budget, more gags, a silly plot, cameos, and all the in-show characters we love, but now Tim and Eric can finally be seen and heard beyond their audience they have with their late night show. I was excited to know that they would have a movie that would draw awareness to the rest of the world, because I do believe they are very underrated and I would have been proud to say "Oh yeah I've been watching these guys since they first aired the Awesome Show on Adult Swim!"When I first saw the trailer for this movie, it got even more excited! It looked pretty close to the Awesome Show, and it looked like the movie was going to draw from their usual, over-the-top shinanigans they do. I just happened to find their movie on here through Amazon Instant Video. I couldn't believe that it was on here and that I had the chance to watch it before its in theaters in a month or so. Now that I've just finished watching it, I feel very underwhelmed. As I said before, they have a formula that works so very well in their show, and it's not that it doesn't work in a feature, it's that it isn't utilized at all. I was so hoping for the movie to start with their little intro video they always have in the Awesome Show, but it was never seen. I was also hoping to see side gags that have absolutely nothing to do with the main story - like a Cinco ad, a hilarious commercial, or the "me me" guys, or a song duo with David Hart and one of his strange puppets, or even a moment when the screen pauses for a moment and says "Great Job!"- but nothing like that happens. Everything that makes Tim and Eric feel like Tim and Eric is completely absent from this movie, except Tim and Eric themselves. They aim at making a straight forward, linear narrative comedy that just doesn't feel right and simply, isn't that funny. Usually when you watch their Awesome Show your brain is always turned upside down and everything feels hilariously chaotic. The best part is at the end of an episode your asking yourself, "what did I just watch?". In Billion Dollar Movie, you're never confused or perplexed because the story isn't bizarre or over-the-top, it's just stupid. It's hard to explain, but for anyone who has seen their show know exactly what I'm talking about. It's just disheartening because sometimes the best part of Tim and Eric is having some of your friends come over to your place, who have never seen the Awesome show before, and have them watch just one episode and then you can see all the different reactions you get. It's priceless. I was planning on taking some of my friends to go see this movie in theaters when it comes out, and I was sooooo looking forward to seeing all of them in a state of hilarious confusion, but I know now that this feature length movie will not have the same powerful effect that an 11 minute episode would normally have. I guess if I take a step back, it's clear that Tim and Eric only works in small doses. But at the same time, I know that can't be true, because no one really knows how Tim and Eric "work". And I know for a fact that I can watch an entire season of Awesome Show (which actually runs at a feature length of 90 minutes) and feel more than satisfied! There was potential here, and I think it would have actually been even better if they had made season six and showed each episode of season six back to back in theaters. I give "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie" two out of five stars. One star for Tim, and one star for Eric. Because I can never not love those guys!

Awesome movie - Great job!
Absolutely worth every penny of your billion dollars. It's got shrim and Diamond Jim (played by the amazing John Depp). What more could you want? Go get this movie. Maybe snag Top Gun on VHS if you have some money left on the gift card you got from a family member or friend. Give it two watches back to back. Amazing. I give it 6 stars, but Amazon will not allow me to display the sixth one accurately, but it's still there. Great job!

Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Blunder...
Having watched adult swim pretty much my entire life, I'm no stranger to the genius of Tim & Eric, from Awesome Show to Bedtime Stories to Beef House, this is by far their worst project...The storyline is uninteresting and the acting is terrible, even with familiar co-stars from the TV series listed above, they added to the terrible. So disappointed, sad day for Tim & Eric...

Reeks of Desperation
Whew! I finally stopped at around the 16 minute mark, but it felt like an hour. With a desperation so powerful I could nearly smell it, Tim and Eric do nothing funny yet obliviously grip their self-own as if, by holding the jokes underwater long enough, a bubble of something funny will surface and *POP*, just because they're so committed to suffocating it.In only 16 minutes they repeated (many times over) all the jokes they didn't already telegraph - as if they felt contempt for their audience and felt they had to virtually spoon feed them.Humor is subjective of course. My Pop had a sense of humor over his old tapes of Looney Tunes, Three Stooges, and (ugh) Jerry Lewis, but he could never so much as smile over Monty Python, Southpark, or Courage the Cowardly Dog. Mom likes Full House and Golden Girls, but can't stand Archer or Rick and Morty. As for me, I still have no idea what anyone sees in Andy Sandburg or Adam Sandler (two stars who collided in That's My Boy, which came out the same year as Tim and Eric's movie). So there's my bandwidth if you share it.If the day ever comes when Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim admit they merely ordered a sticky note cube of rejected Saturday Night Live bits for this movie, and through repetition padded them out to feature length, I will not be surprised.

Not funny
I've seen a few reviews saying "it's just like the show". Such reviews are using this as a compliment and giving the movie a high score. As someone who enjoys comedy but has never seen the show this fim is based on, I can only conclude the positive reviews are sarcasm or it's some sort of cult thing. This movie is definitely not funny. If you enjoy the show, all indications are that you will enjoy this movie. However, if you like comedy, something light, and a few laughs, then definitely skip this. I actually went through the whole thing, skipping ahead when yet another gag or "joke" missed the mark. There's nothing funny here. There are cameos, but they amount to nothing. If you like any of the actors with a cameo, you're better served watching one of their movies that you know you like.Basically, I watched this movie so that you don't have to. Don't repeat my mistake of thinking there must be something funny or interesting ahead. There isn't.

Entertaining, but probably not if you're new to Tim and Eric
I didn't watch this for quite some time due to bad reviews but it actually turned out to be a very enjoyable film. It's full of the usual silly Tim and Eric humour, bizarre casting and lots of comedian guest stars. I'd only give it a 7/10 though due to some of the earlier scenes being too long and there being a severe lack of songs and music, which is when the guys are at their strongest in my opinion. The final scenes are tremendous though.

but waited a while to watch this because I was swayed by the masses of bad reviews, and didn't want to be left disappointed
I am a huge fan of Tim and Eric, but waited a while to watch this because I was swayed by the masses of bad reviews, and didn't want to be left disappointed. Though when I did watch it finally, I enjoyed it very much! I thought a lot of it was very funny. I appreciate other people's opinions on this film, but I think they need to give it another chance! Though, if you're someone who gets annoyed at a lack of plot, then this is not the film for you.Great Job!
