IMS Competition Convex Filter Basket for bottomless 58mm portafilters (20g) B702TCH26E

I am extremely amazed how much of a difference the basket makes in my setup. I have a Casabrews Ultra espresso machine that I have been trying to dial in for 2 months. The shots have been decent using a Kingrinder K6 and freshly roasted beans but something was always off. With my bottomless filter, the shots formed a black "rat's tail" in the beginning and only at the end of the shot was there froth that turned into a thin layer of crema. I have been experimenting with dose, grind setting, temperature and different beans etc. and the results have always been the same. My first shot using the IMS basket immediately showed a brown, frothy rat's tail and generated a good shot with good, lasting crema even though the shot ran too fast. Next time I'll grind finer and expect to finally get out of the machine what I wanted. It's amazing that the basket can make that much of a difference. When I fill it with water, it runs through at approximately the same rate as with the stock basket. But, holding it it's apparent that the bottom of the basket is much thicker than that of the stock basket. I assume that is the factor that makes the difference. For Casabrews Ultra owners, I highly recommend this basket but there is a caveat. One review here states that the basket is too tall when used with the stock portafilter holder -- I have not confirmed this. This basket will probably help most espresso machine owners to pull a better shot but especially those with budget machines that came with a low quality basket. Remember you will have to dial in your grind size again and most probably have to go finer because of the thicker bottom of the basket that makes the holes deeper.

Super happy I snagged this IMS basket on sale—total score! The quality is top-notch, just what you’d expect from IMS, and it works like a dream with my Gaggia E24. Sliding it into the group head is smooth, removing it is even smoother. No more stuck pucks—they pop right out like magic. I rinse it with hot water and dry it after each shot, and my espresso has never been more consistent. I usually dose 16g (sometimes 17g) with a stainless steel puck screen, and it pulls perfect shots every time. Might be tight for 18g with the screen though—haven’t tried it. If you’re using a Gaggia or similar machine, this basket’s a no-brainer upgrade. Highly recommend!

Good craftsmanship and aesthetically pleasing. This filter basket fits snugly into the Breville stock portafilter. At first glance, it looks quite similar to the Breville filter basket and makes one wonder if the IMS Competition will make a difference. Having watched many YT videos about IMS baskets, I knew to reduce my grind setting prior to use. The Breville basket was dialed in at 18 grind with Lavazza Crema e Aroma. I decided to start at 15 and was right on the money. Wonderful aroma, perfect 1:2 ratio with a lovely crema. A quick sip to confirm the lack of bitter or acidic pungency in this pull. The coffee flavor muted by the Breville basket bloomed with the IMS basket. Nothing else changed in the workflow, so I am quite happy I replaced the Breville basket with the IMS basket finding a beautiful resulting espresso and subsequent latte. Well worth the spend.

Got this to reduce the dose on my Breville Oracle Jet's auto-dose. Worked like a charm! I'm now getting around 19g consistently in this basket (versus 21-22 in the stock basket).

Wow wow wow. I use medium-dark roast. My dark roast fits in here perfectly at 18 grams in with little to no headspace (if you use a puck screen check the height or underdose). Very good price for performance and longevity. Super easy to wipe out and clean. I’ve used other high flow trendy high extraction baskets from other brands, they are “okay” at medium-dark/dark roasts but this kicks it up a notch. So syrupy and chocolaty and smooth. VELVET SHOTS.

Great quality with a visible improvement over the stock Gaggia filter. However, the metal it’s made from is not magnetic, which is important if you use a magnetic dosing funnel like I do. The magnets simply don’t stick to the filter.

Se ajustó de manera perfecta en mi Gaggia Classic Pro, sobre el portafiltro original. Mejora de manera notable la extracción así como el manejo del café en comparación con los filtros originales. ¡Una mejora necesaria!
