Will it roll on the carpet?

Yes. It is an incredibly sturdy rolling rack with commercial grade wheels. Mine is loaded with 60+ pieces of clothing and rolls with ease.

Easily collapsible after use on laundry day?

No. Not difficult but not really the function. In my opinion this is made to stay standing. You would habe to spend the 10-15minutes to collapse it and then do it again to build it up when needed
